Well said, heh.

My quick thoughts/meaningless opinions.

Schutlz had a decent games especially in the 1st period.

Fehr is busting his ass out there. Smells like a player that knows what he has to do to stay in the league. Using his reach and size.

That Holtby saucer pass for the Brower goal was beauty.

Nice to have a blow out win. The D&G was finallly getting to me, lol.

During his first star skate, Holtby tossed his stick over the glass that he got an assist and shutout with. Nice souvenir there.

satisfying but also extremely frustrating, no? its like a year late and coming from a guy in a white jersey, not a caps red one.

Good game. D played well, Holtby was solid. And/or Florida was just really bad. We'll see if they keep this up. Good for Ovy on getting that ES goal.

Bäckström isn't still 100%.

It's one game after an embarassing week of hitting rock bottom, and it was expected/predicted. It was nice to see, but they need to play like that EVERY game, including in ones where they get down a goal or two.

Nice game, felt like old times at the phone booth. Read through the thread and have to agree with many of the posters regarding Fehr's play and dare I even say Schultz's play. Defense as a whole looked good along with Holtby (liked Holtby's gesture as #1 star not only tossing a puck into the crowd but also handing his stick over the glass, also the team coming out to center ice and saluting the fans with their sticks). Some guys I still don't know what they are doing out there, i.e. Wolski and now even Chimera.

I've noticed Schultz has quietly been one of the most consistent players on the ice over the last 7 or 8 games. Count me among those who thought he'd never change his spots, but he seems stronger, faster, more confident, better with the puck, and more physical.

It may be time to stop bashing the guy.

That was fun. Interesting topic that Joe B brought up: Caps played 12 games in 20 days and now will play 3 games in 11 days. Hopefully the guys pull off a few wins, take a deep breath, realize that the play-offs are still attainable, and play with confidence moving forward.

Tonight was the game we've been waiting for. We capitalized on our breaks. Holtby made the saves he should make and a few he shouldn't have. I thought his save on when we were on the PP and the one timer at the end of the second were huge. Those could have been game changers against us. Shocking what this team looks like when it gets NHL goaltending. Good goaltending gives the entire team confidence. Keep it up fellas.

Or, tank hard. Please, one or the other. Don't do the .500 thing.

With the the extra days off and coming off a game with alot of postives to build on it gives Oates a good chance to teach his system to the players this week.

Attended last nights game.... and while I was glad we won, the cats clearly took the night off.

The game resembled the philly game in 2 less than moderately talented teams went at it.

AO is, and must be, irritating to coach. The only time he applies any real effort is when he's taking the puck in, or there's a chance to get it back, and make a shot. If not, he quits skating, and glides on his skates. A couple of times in the neutral zone, the puck came back near him, and had he kept skating, he could have retrieved the puck. This has got to rub off on his teammates, who see him for what he is: only interested in his own stats.

I thought Shaq reminded me of another similar player we had once and used in the same roll: James Black.

Glad we won, but a difficult game to watch.

I don't condone OV's style however stats are what so many go by to evaluate how a player is doing (media and fans). Also the primary data used for determining what a player will get paid.

Apparently, $ you get tells you your worth. Ask any GM if he uses stats when deciding a contract offer. Every player also knows that the only thing that counts at contract time is stats. Ask the guys without the stats if they get recognized. There is a saying that goes something like "Nice guys finish last."

Could it be OV gets how the world works and is trying to live up to his contract? Who knows? I keep trying to figure him out.

My take on Ovie:

He needs to find the basics of his game... Shoot a ton and a score 40+ before he can begin to fix the weaknesses in his overall game. When he was dominating the league, no one (read BB) seems to have challenged him to grow as a player. Then when things started going bad, all the talk was about his incomplete game and he was pressured to change entirely with left him with basically no strengths.

One of the things I am excited about with Oates is that I think he can restart the neglected process of Ovie's development, first by helping him rediscover his natural talents and then build a more complete game from there.

how about that new move Ovechkin has used the last 2 games coming down RW curl and drag at the circles and leads to open shot.
