Anyone see a little bit of Doug Gilmour in Kadri?

Ive watched Doug Gilmour his whole career even when he played with the leafs even though Im not a fan.

Ive caught a few leaf games this year and the odd one last season when Kadri played.

He seriously reminds me a bit of gilmour. SOme pretty solid skill..not afraid to hit...nice hands...solid passing and some real heart

Anyone feel the same or am I dreaming of killer too much?

The HNIC commentators did the comparison and Bob Cole literally went, "Oh wow..." - loss for words.

I think it's too early to tell but we shall see.

Killer.

We're 12 games in and we're comparing Kadri to Doug Gilmour.

The Selke winning, 100+ point Doug Gilmour.

The HHOF inducted, total all-round badass, Doug Gilmour.

The OP said "a little bit of," he didn't say he is Gilmour...

Well, their playing styles are similar, but their skill levels are far apart.

Don't get me wrong kadri is a fine young player but gilmour was something else.

It doesn't matter what age though. This is what we call textbook overhyping. You don't just slap on a label even if you didn't intend to say that he'll be just as good. Perhaps it's just me, but you can't just compare a rookie to a HHOFer unless they reach a close enough level of production. It's just too ridiculous.

I'd imagine half the people here have never seen Doug Gilmour play.

Even the thought of comparing him to a legend such as Gilmour is preposterous.

Exactly. Just because Kelly Hrudey had a temporary brainfart on air doesn't mean we should.

I thought in general Kelly Hrudey had a real solid outing tonight. Has he been doing color commentary all season long?

Oh I'm not hating on him. I just wanted to point out that one thing he said. Didn't agree with him on that point, but he wasn't bad. I'm not sure if he's been doing color commentary but I would prefer him over Hughson and Simpson any day of the week.

I agree that they have a similar skill set, but we seriously have to stop with these unrealistic expectations of our young players.

I want to enjoy watching our young guys develop, not be disappointed that they don't win the Art Ross or Norris by the time they're 24.

I've stated the Gilmour comparison more than once on these boards. There's a lot of similarities.

Kadri has a few similar qualities to Gilmour. Not saying he is Gilmour but the playing style looks similar.

When did Dougie ever show up for a season fat and out of shape? Just kidding of course, having some fun. It's pretty high praise to say there's a bit of Dougie in Kadri, but probably wishful thinking. Gilmour played all out, all the time and had the heart of a champion. Kadri? Not yet anyway. After his fast start he's really cooled off and looking more like the Kadri of old, 8 good games doesn't cut it when you're comparing him to a Leaf legend.

If he will be Rbiero without being a POS, he will have a fine career. I think he will never be a Gilmour, Gilmour had a heart of a champion and hands of a god.
