How come the best team in the league, Chicago, sees it necessary to have Brandon Bollig and Dan Carcillo on their team?

That's the point. Bad team and a small team that can get pushed around. Not a good combo.

and there is the problem, if your 6'2 or 6'3 guys dont want to play a physical game, dont want to fight from time to time (in extreme cases at least), no goon will want to get into fights to defend them.

Just because they got the **** beat out of them doesn't mean they're gutless.

And Jamal Mayers. Don't bother talking about it here, I'm convinced that most of the people posting here have either never played the game or were beaten up a lot as kids... Anti toughness is very popular here.

don't think leafs can keep this up by dressing 3 goons that can't play hockey.. they won't be able to keep up against good teams..

reality is, you play tough guy here while we both know you'd strart running if anyone with a decent shape were to challenge you.

It's ok though, It's the Internet, we don't know you personally so you're allowed to think we all see you as a tough mofo

Or get respect from his teamates. Cole has a Gionta-like attitude but Gio can't do anything about it, he's 5 foot 3. Cole could do it but he has this tunnel vision, almost autistic like he does the same thing all the time and can't imagine doing other things with his body. Very strange. He's physical, yet he isn't.

There was no response when Orr ran at Plekanec, there was no response when Orr dropped Bourque, and there was no response when Gorges was slapped around and laughed at... In their home rink. That's gutless. Only Josh Gorges showed any heart.

I agree. Gorges especially should never have been left alone. All the other guys that did not defend him? Go to Hell.

'Cause they've got all that talent up front to compensate for the late of talent of those guys. As of now, in our top 6 we have 2 great talents in MaxPac and Pleks. Yet, that's not Kane, Toews and Hossa we're talking about here.

Of course an enforcer is needed. Or at least someone who isn't afraid to drop the gloves.

A message was sent out tonight. That the Habs are a soft as shyte team to play against, and are gutless too.

In their own barn they got bullied around and embarrassed.

And at the end of all of it, all they wanted to do was moan and cry about a bite or a knee-on-knee.

What about the rest of the game where they were outplayed? Outfought?

The knee and the bite overshadowed a soft, gutless team.

When Prust is running around the ice like a headless chicken looking to dance with anyone that'll listen, I'm not sure it's Armstrong or Moen's job to keep up with him and defend him..

With 6 minutes left in the first period, Prust was all over trying to start crap. Sure it's his role or whatever, but with it being a lost cause he only made matters worse.

There was a response. Gionta, of all people, actually went after Orr for that run followed by Bourque. Neither of those things ended well. Gorges was trying to get at Orr, but an ogre grabbed him. Gorges did the best he could.

None of that was gutless. What it lacked, was finish. We don't have anyone with cement hands. Just a couple crazy middle and light weights in Prust and White.

edit: I think the other two guys on the ice were Diaz and Pleks. What exactly were they to do?

They very well might because it gives them a job. The mythical "team toughness" does not.

Grab on to arms and hang on for dear life. It isn't that hard to tie up a player in hockey sweaters. Just grab sleeves and stay close and there won't be much of a fight. Better than standing around doing nothing.

Gionta got out of there ASAP.. If you consider what Gionta did a response, than I don't know if we can continue this conversation... Watch our captain slink away. Than watch overmatched Gorges at least do something.

Maclearn smiles as Gorges tries to throw a punch, just proves we need size and toughness.

Staubitz is making twice league minimum, on a two-year contract, on an elite Anaheim Ducks team, playing with the likes of Saku Koivu and Sheldon Sourray.

Which he just did here last spring, though he's a light heavy.

Anywho, Minny might give you Matt Kassian for virtually nothing, you owe it to give him a chance.
