Glad Ribs is performing well for WAS. I don't think he resigns in WAS this summer.

Dallas got a hell of a young player in Cody Eakin for him. If I was WAS I would be looking for a similar return. 2nd round pick and a young NHL ready player.

There's history there with Doug Armstrong, who brought Ribeiro to Dallas years back.

random thought, would richards not want him on the team, ribs did have a habit of "overshifting" in dallas

He would fit nicely on the Canucks and there are some nice pieces that Washington would want for their future from the Canucks. This would work:

to was A Alberts, Ebbett, Connauton, 5th rd pick

to VCR: Ribiero, 2nd rd pick

Then:

Sedin Sedin Ribiero
Burrows Kesler Kassian
Booth Schroeder Raymond
Higgins Lapierre Hansen

Why would Washington give you Ribiero AND a 2nd rounder for that garbage? Then you put Ribs at RW with the Sedins? This is one of the most bizarre things I have seen on this forum.

You'd rather have Henrik on the RW?? THAT is bizarre...

Ribeiro is a playmaking center. He doesn't play wing. Why would you want to acquire a playmaking center with little scoring ability to play wing with another playmaking center?

Ok I think I was wrong, and you are right, sorry. Here is the solution to the dilemma:

Sedin Sedin Kassian
Burrows Ribeiro Kesler
Booth Schroeder Raymond
Higgins Lapierre Hansen

That could work but you would have to give up more than your first offer. Regardless I don't think it would cost a ton to acquire him at the deadline. You are probably looking at a 1st or a 2nd+prospect which shouldn't be a problem for a team looking to win now. I think a player like Ribeiro would give the Canucks some interesting flexibility and PP options. During the playoffs you could potentially run with Kesler manning a 3rd line checking unit and run three effective lines.

That will do from Caps view imo. Assuming he doesn't want to re-sign and we're out of contention.

By all accounts he seems to love it in Washington so far. Hes all smiles and giving guys hugs after games the caps win. I just cant see gmgm dealing him after giving up Eakin.

If some type of contract is not worked out maybe the deadline but more likely someone deals for his rights after the season.

I know it's taboo, but can I say Luongo? You want draft picks? How about:

Luongo
Ballard
2nd

For

Ribeiro
Alzner/ Carlson

Don't forget, Ballard has been quite good this year. Would Van need to give the 1st instead?

Value wise it's a good offer, and if nobody else came to the table I would accept it. But I'd try and hold out to see if anyone else offered a center or defensive prospect as opposed to a winger prospect.

Ottawa might be interested with Spezza out... Stephane Da Costa (lots of potential, is getting his chance right now with Ottawa but I don't see him here long term with Spezza and Turris above him), 3rd round pick 2013 (probably a mid pick, unless we really fall apart- ottawa has no 2nd in 2013, 2014 conditional if ribeiro resigns? ), + Mike Hoffman (a big body with weels, I think he's injured right now though. Looks to be at most a 3rd liner). Idk, I'm not sure how far value is off. A potential 2nd liner, a 3rd in a deep draft plus a throw in, doesnt have to be Hoffman, for a stopgap 1st/2nd line center with one year on his deal left. Idk.

This is far more taboo than throwing in the goalie.

Jordan Schmaltz - D (former 1st Rounder) and Matt D'Agostini or 2nd then? The Blues could really afford to move some salary in the trade and DAgs should really be playing in an everyday role somewhere.

That would be fair too imo, unless we get something better.
