He himself said it when he was in Europe playing during the lockout. Go watch his games and you will see yourself, he does look better than last season.

Last season was transition season after being away for 3 years. This year, he knows what to expect.

All you have to do is look at his first 40 games where he had 41 Pts before his injury to see that he was playing very well. The only thing that derailed his season last year was his injury.

I BTW never predicted he would challenge for the Art Ross. I said he would be a PPG player and he would have been if not for the injury. He could have easily sat out the rest of the season and wait for the playoffs to be healthy and he would have been a PPG player.

A shorter season means he can maintain a better pace. He will be PPG if healthy. That is my prediction. Can Selanne be a PPG player? If he can then he can challenge Jagr for who scores more.

Here's what you had to say before last season:

"I think the KHL game has made Jagr work on his speed and he will be a faster player than he was 3 years ago just for the fact the KHL rinks are bigger and that he had to shed 15-20 lbs which will only help with his speed."

" I mean he's 20 lbs lighter than he was the last time we saw him in the NHL."

"He was also 245 lbs, 20 lbs heavier than he is now."

So I guess Jagr is about 200 lbs now. Funny how Dallas stars have him listed at 240 lbs... Maybe you should give them a call.

"So, you're essentially guaranteeing that Jagr wil be a PPG player or better? Here's my bet:
- Jagr finishes the season at 1 PPG or higher, I use whatever avatar you want for the whole 2012 offseason
- Jagr finishes the season below 1 PPG, you use whatever avatar I want for the whole 2012 offseason

Deal?"

Jags6868: (livewell68)
"Deal."

"I think Jagr still has what it takes to be a top 10 scorer in the league (points wise). "

"He is an all-time great. As many have mentioned, he won't return just to score 40-60 Pts. If he returns it's because he knows he can still be dominant. You'll be suprised when you see just how good Jagr will be. "

So, livewell6868, did you or did you not make any bet? Evidence would suggest that you did.

Selanne had at least 1 empty net goal with Jagr zero points from empty net, so pretty much even.

Selanne has gotten his points on PP or empty net. Add to that Jagr is aging. So it's pretty much even. And Selanne has only 47% of points of his line, so he is leeching off of his line mates while Jagr makes plays by himself.

Jagr also has cooler name but Selanne has more cars. Pretty damn even if you ask me. But i am glad no one is asking me.

Selanne is still just amazing, what a player. He'll easily outscore Jagr this year IMO.

Can we bump this now?

Jagr will outscore Selanne this year. While Selanne started off pretty strong, he really is slowing down now while Jagr is just starting to catch his groove.

Jagr is scoring goals while his linemates are struggling, he leads the offensive charge on the Stars while Selanne is a passenger for the Ducks.

Sleep better now? Got it up, finally?

You have unanswered questions above, by the way.

Selanne had 14 points in his first 11 games and I thought he would run away with this. Now Im not so sure.

Jagr is back to being a premier player and playing big minutes and leads the Stars in goals and points and I wouldn't be surprised if he finished first on the team in assists as well by season's end.

Glad to see Jagr doing so well lately, I guess I was wrong and so were most people about Selanne outscoring him.

Ducks have more depth so I went for Jagr. Those additional PP goals he gets (currently Jagr 5 vs Selanne 2) will add up.

I remember this bet. Instead of making good on it, seemed like dude hid from the boards for awhile and then changed his username? Nice lol.

Both Jagr and Selanne are my favourite players from the 90's, and it does look Jagr might take this season. Teemu had kinda terrible last 10 games (excluding last 2 games). I'm hoping it was just a bad phase and he'll get over it. Season is not over yet, though.

But I do have terrible feeling that perhaps age finally caught up with Teemu this year, he is after all 42 years old (two years more than Jagr)...

It will be very sad day for me when these two retire.

Is Selanne no longer on the first PP unit? That's been his bread and butter for the past couple years

I can understand arguing against my posts but insulting someone and using derogatory language like you have been and others is quite immature and uncalled for. I have never once in my life insulted someone on here.

You are clearly a Finnish fan and I bet it upsets you that Jagr is playing better than Selanne but no need for this type of comment.
