With the Leafs having an abundance of 2nd line centers, Grabovski is becoming redundant. With the emergence of Nazem Kadri as the 2nd line center, Tyler Bozak playing awesome and Dave Nonis continuing to look for a #1 center, there is no longer a spot for Grabovski going forward at the center position. What teams could use him and what would they offer?
Should wait till the deadline next year. This ensures Kadri will (or should) play consistently well like he has. Isn't this a contract year for Kadri, too ?
Kadris producing because hes playing sheltered minutes. He may not be ready for the added responsibility and until its definitive there is no reason to deal Grabovski.
Yeah, other then a few nut case Leaf fans, most of us like him and want to keep him. He's streaky point wise, but he's a good two way player and gives us three solid lines.
We currently have a winning team and we don't even have Gunnarsson, Gardiner, Brown, and Lupul in the line-up. Grabovski has been playing really well as our shut down center. Even too the point where I can hope he can become a Bergron lite. Unless somehow a 1st line center becomes available and Grabovski is one of the pieces going the other way, we keep this team. We have a cupboard full of prospects, 3 scoring lines and a goaltender that is playing well beyond expectations. As a fan base we are finally getting what we wanted, playing the young guys over scraps like L.A.C.K. Let's enjoy it.
IMO Kadri is a younger version of Grabovski. Both are small and feisty. Grabovski's defensive game developed as he gained experience.
I can't see the Leafs keeping both, but can see one of them being included in a package for a first or second line centre with more size.
Nothing wrong with having two of a good thing. We have only 4 players on our roster that are shorter than 6' tall. Other than little firecracker JML and Kostka, who plays bigger than his actual size, we do not have a defenseman under 6'2" on our lineup. Size does not matter. It is about how you use your size and most of our shorter players will play larger than they are.
With that contract and cap hit, I don't see many takers TBH. TML are better off keeping him. He's worth more to the TML than the return he would yield.
Toronto doesn't need to start subtracting centers.
If they are redundant I would. Grabovski is a good piece, but he is not big enough to play shutdown center and also makes too much to be a 3rd line center. I like him as player, just not for this team going forward.

Kadri will always be getting sheltered minutes with Carlyle's team. Unless he moves up to the 1st line, his minutes will be always be sheltered. He is not good enough defensivly to be shutdown center. So he will either be #1 center and get major minutes or play center on the sheltered scoring line and get less minutes.
1st line Scoring
2nd line Sheltered scoring
3rd line Shutdown
4th line Energy

Total agreement. He's still our best centre and there's nothing that says that we can't have three scoring lines as long as they are defensively responsible, which they have been to this point. The mentality, or maybe it's the attention span (or, more likely, both) of some Leaf fans, I swear to hell I don't understand.
