at the end of the day, I have a life and it's too short to lose patience over a team I am not a part of. Also, I am not that insecure where I feel belittled because the team I like lost 6-0.

Seriously.

Win or lose. Stanley Cup or no Stanley Cup. We gain nothing of real value from this but bragging rights or conversation starters.

No reason to go crazy as people are doing the past 24 hours. It's a complete mess.

I like the optimism. The slump is bad but we are 6-4-1 and 7th in the east with a game in hand over Toronto and Ottawa. Considering our finish last season, we could be much worse off.

Whatever helps you justify your overreactions. It's a game in the end, you are not a part of the team. It's fun to discuss, but when a game starts determining emotions like yesterday's game, then it's pretty sad. Anyhoo, continue whining about something you have zero influence on, with players and people who don't care about who you are.

Yes we do need to calm down. MB is a new GM and he should have 5 years to put vision in place. Quite frankly, I get the feeling he is looking at having a competitive play-off team within 2-3 years. He is cautious and looks like he wants to avoid big mistakes eg he wasnt hell bent on making some huge move be it through trade or UFA signing. He obviously believes we need size and attitude as he resigned Moen, and added UFA Prust ( slightly below average size but the biggest agitator and nasty guy available as a UFA ) and took a very inexpensive roll of the dice on Armstrong, a guy who is of decent size and before injuries was a hitter who could also drop them. I think MB gets the size and the toughening up issues. In terms of sizing up with skill guys, Giontas contract is up after next season and the center issue has to be figured out by watching how the guys play. Also, while we know a good number of UFA to be guys will resign with their teams, others will be traded and some will resign with their new squads, but a number hit the UFA market. As it happens, this year and next has a large number of talented forwards going UFA. MB is clearly aware of Cap management given how he toughed it out with PK. Im guessing MB will be very keen to try to snag a top skill, scoring winger as a UFA over the next couple of years. Hopefully with size. If Clowe hits the market he may also be interested in him.

We lose 3 in a row. It happens. Teams go through peaks and valleys. We have a group with a bunch of players who weren't here last year, an entirely new coaching staff, and entirely new organizational leadership and direction. Change takes time. Changes doesn't happen overnight.

If you thought we were on our way to the Cup before the Boston game, then you were way off your rocker. If you think that we're bottom-feeders now, you're even more off your rocker.

Take a step back from the emotional roller-coaster and realize that there have been many positives so far this season, and many things that could, conversely, be improved.

**** ****ing happens and we had a crap game. Sorry, we've had a crap week.

So why should we tank now? Why should we take the C off Gionta's jersey now? Why should we trade every conceivable good asset on our team now?

Where was this kind of talk last week?

Get a ****ing grip, please. I'm angry we lost too, but maybe, just MAYBE for once we can take a step back and move on. There is still plenty of hockey to be played and winners and losers aren't decided after 10 games.

No excuses, right? No ****ing excuses. So stop acting like the sky is falling.

The defending cup Champs are 3-4-2.

Perspective, please.

Go Habs Go!
Just wanted to thank you for some very wise thoughts. I also liked the phrase about the Cup not being won after each victory or tanking after each loss.

We all knew a slump would come. Well, here it is. Our head is still above water, so as the fish said in Finding Nemo, "Just keep swimming, just keep swimming..."

Just because people chose to vent their emotions on a ONLINE HOCKEY BOARD doesn't mean they are punching holes in their walls at home, or on the verge of rioting, running away, committing suicide.

I agree life is short and there are bigger things, but this is where people should come if they want to VENT about their hockey / habs passion.

Get a grip man.

Agreed.

And our big slump is a one-goal loss to the Bruins where Rask was sensational, a shootout loss to Buffalo which easily could have been a 1-goal victory if the ref blows the play down as many feel he should have, and then a blowout loss to the Leafs on our 3rd game in 4 nights.

Not a big deal. It's gonna happen sometimes. The team will rebound from it, and in the meantime Gionta won't be stripped of his captaincy, we won't pick up a goon, and we won't see Plekanec/Desharnais/Gionta/Cole/Moen/Bourque/insert-whoever-else-you-feel-like-because-someone-has-probably-already-posted-that-they-must-be-dealt, and Marc Bergevin/Michel Therrien won't be canned.

If you can't handle it, perhaps you need to find some help.

I agree with you about 99.9%. There's always that 0.1% that annoys you that other fanbases call people like gorges ******* after fighting guys 6'5 250lbs. You kind of are annoyed by the stupidity of some people more than anything else.

Also, other fanbases need new jokes. "habs fans will call 911". Original. It's not even insulting to me though, just pathetic people bring it up. It's like someone calling me short when i'm 6'4. It's tough to be offended by something I'm not but it still gets pathetic if they keep saying it.

As right as you are,it is still a very hard pill to swallow.
I also like the team, but size is still a burden of ours.
MB + MT must see it, just not many players want to come to Montreal.
IMO

Bergevin has done nothing so far he has got 90% of bob gainey and pierre gauthier's roster,he was brought in to re-build the team to win stanley cups, not like bob gainey just try to make the playoffs and maybe get a hot goalie............and yes Markov will be traded 100% for sure,he can't skate is terrible defensively he is basically a power play specialist, when you have a player like Markov with 1 year left in his contract next year, yopu have 3 option let them walk for nothing,re-sign them to a 2-3 year contract, and we know those 2 things won't happen if your rebuilding..........so the only option left is trade him and that's what will happen period.

While I vehemently disagree with your assumption that Markov is terrible defensively and that he is only a power-play specialist...

I do agree that if this team continues on it's current path.. trading Markov is an attractive option. Some team will give a 1st, top prospect and a mid-level prospect for him, no questions asked.

Bergevin is probably studying the team since game #1. I expect moves in the coming weeks. he is no bob gainey #3.

I expect move by the trade deadline, unloading veterans for pick. And one or two of our center will be dealt.

Completely agree.

Did people seriously think we were going to go the whole season without a 3-game losing streak? Did they think we wouldn't get blown out at least once? Or never blow a lead?

It took us 15 games to get as many points as we have in 11 this year. If we lose our next 4 games then yea I'd panic, but I highly doubt we will.

You win some you lose some! And sometimes you lose badly haha

I think the Habs will pick it up this week; in my opinion they were unlucky to lose against Boston and Buffalo but deserved to lose against Toronto. Best case scenario we would only have lost 1 game instead of 3.

I'm hoping last night was just a case of having the wind knocked out if their sails. Losing 2 crushing losses in a row can be really hard to take, and even demotivational. Sometimes it takes a wake up call to set things right. If the coach can't get that done, then a game like last night should.

It will be interesting to see how MT and his leadership group ( Gio,Gorges, and Markov ) handle things this upcoming week...
