Players in the Doghouse/Healthy Scratches Ongoing Thread (Goligoski)
vlasic, stuart, boyle, burns, demers, braun......all ahead of him?
Many teams would be interested in Murray, he's a UFA right?
The way the Sharks d shakes out...
Boyle-Vlasic
Burns-Stuart
Demers-Braun
Murray.
Hes lost a step..still physical and a shot blocking machine. It looks as if he will be a situational player. A lot of Sharks fans and the Sharks "insider" assuming hes available.
-For Edmonton, Ryan Smyth will be a healthy scratch, along with Ryan Whitney. Smyth has asked to not speak to reporters today and Krueger said it was a difficult one, but he feels Smyth will have a big bounce-back after sitting down. This is Whitney's third game in a row as a scratch and he's not happy about it: "We got outshot 40-14 and I’m still not playing.”
-For Nashville, Hal Gill is expected to be a healthy scratch tonight.
And just to curb any ideas, Josh Harding is NOT a healthy scratch. Was supposed to start tonight but told the club he's felt "off" for the past few days (Harding is battling MS, so Minnesota said it's not unexpected), so Darcy Kuemper has been recalled to take his place.

A little puzzling to me what happened in Dallas. Niskanen was a throw in and has been a stud for the pens. He's paired with Letang now and plays 20 mins a night. Goligoski was good with the pens and quickly deteriorated in Dallas.

Dallas has a mental block when it comes to handling a defense. One of the big problems is that the team doesn't have a true #1 defenseman so they try to force #3/#4 guys into that role, i.e. Robidas and Goligoski.

I will never understand why Nieuwendyk made that thread.
Horrible at the time it was made. Even more horrible right now....
Boyle scratched again but not surprising w NYE winning last game. Still think Boyle n Eminger for Mcbain n nodl makes sense
Maybe from a nyr standpoint it makes sense but it sure doesn't do anything for the canes. Carolina's biggest need is a top 4 defensive defenseman. We won't trade McBain for a downgrade at that position.

It also doesnt help that there is just no good pairing options for guys who have weaknesses to hide.
yep gunnarsson's back
liles was the odd man out
he could be a good #4 D on alot of teams looking for pp help
I have been praising this guy, because he doesn't seem to get any credit at all.
He has above average IQ and even though he is undersized he seems to come out of the corners regularly. But above that, the thing i noticed the most.....He is the first guy with a hand on a player if something were to go down; not saying he is tough or will throw down, but he is there for his teammates on every turn. Solid player, I hope his is back in the lineup soon (tonight)
Weber & Kaberle should probably be a staple in your first post, doesn't look like either of them are getting a chance any time soon (barring an injury).
Finally.
I assume that means Sekera's ready to come back to the line-up?

Yes, a long overdue scratch for Leopold, but Myers also needed to sit once our defense were relatively healthy .. now, it's obviously Leo's turn .. Sekera (LBI) is still day-to-day and will be a scratch again tonight .. sure, you could add Stafford to the doghouse list with his fourth line demotion today, but I'm weary that Ruff won't keep him there for long once Kaleta proves he's no better .. Stafford's streaky, typically potting his goals in 12-15 of 82 games, nothing new there, but his shooting percentage is far below his career average this year and playing with Scott and McCormick isn't going to spark a progression to his typical numbers .. here's what Ruff had to say after today's morning skate:
Quote:
Ruff on the decision to scratch Leopold:
“I’ve talked to Jordan recently, probably three or four games ago, about improved play. I thought we got a couple of pretty strong games. But in the last game, I expect more out of him, out of a veteran defenseman. He’s gonna have to work hard to get back in now.”
Quote:
Ruff on the decision to move Stafford off the second line:
“There’s an inside part to his game that is getting a little better. When he’s going well, you notice his skating. You notice the one-on-one battles; winning the majority of the one-on-one battles. When it isn’t going well, we’re not winning those battles.
“I didn’t think he was quite up to speed with his skating again the other night, and he lost some battles that I thought were key battles inside the game. It’s something that we’ve talked about. He needs to take a little bit more ownership on some of those battles to make a better play that turns into something better for us.”
