What I said was accurate: Three percentage points (.605 vs .602) behind Toronto. Toronto has a game in hand.

My memory may be fuzzy but I don't think he was much of a factor last year. Could be just because he only played 5 games but there was no excitement in the BCA with him coming in the lineup to replace Tropp.

But a lot of things would have to go right for all those guys to be on the Amerks at once.
Four things happened which resulted in more consistent play. One, the sabres coaching staff left the area. Two, Pardy was sent down. Three, Brennan was called up and finally Four, Finely was claimed. Brennan leaving has hurt the PP, but it has helped the D and Pardy being recalled and the team continued to play well. Finely will not be back, if so then this team will take a step back. BN, Crawford, B and P have more than stepped up.

Per the Amerks twitter:

The #Amerks have reassigned goaltender Connor Knapp to the Greenville Road Warriors of the #ECHL.

Probably means the Amerks want to get a look at Lieuwen in practice and maybe a game or two; they're disappointed with Knapp thus far; or they want Knapp to get some actual game experience that he's not getting in Rochester. Or a combination thereof.

Knapp has been pretty brutal all season long. So it's that and the fact that he needs to play. Pardy was also returned to the Amerks.

Curious to see if Lieuwen can pass Knapp on the depth chart.

He's had the benefit of playing a bunch of games. Hope he can play a few games and have some success.

True, but from what I read he had a good/great training camp.

I don't think either is going to "wow" at the AHL level this year, tbh. Knapp is pretty good positionally, but obviously lacks pretty severely in rebound control and isn't super quick laterally. Lieu, IMO, is just the opposite -- doesn't read plays all that well to get in position but has much more pure athleticism, at least from what I've seen. Long-term, I think Lieu has the better tools to build off of, but I don't think anyone should have big expectations for either.

Obviously sending Knapp down wasn't some brilliant inspired move, but it was so obviously the correct move that it's still nice (or relieving at least) to see.

Germany had a pretty embarassing loss against Italy today... When I skipped through the game report though I noticed kind of an interesting tidbit, apparently our former AHL-Goalie Adam Dennis is the Goaltender of the Italian National Team now

Will Matt Ellis clear waivers?
Will he be assigned to Rochester?

Extra forwards. Who is in the line-up?

I don't see why he wouldn't clear. Good move, since he'll also likely be able to help Rochester win more games.

It is nice to see Sundher producing a little bit after a sluggish start. Ice time is sometimes a good thing.

Another morning game for the Amerks, who lead 2-0 with 9 mins left in the 1st period.

1. Roy (Rissmiller)
2. Varone [SH] (unassisted)

Defensive pairs are:

Pardy-Biega
McNabb-Pysyk
Crawford-MacKenzie

No Rankin or Girgensons for the Amerks. Ellis in for Parker.

Ellis "sets up" the unassisted shorthanded (breakaway) goal with a 2 minute tripping penalty.
Ellis was also on the ice for the Roy goal/Rissmiller assist as they are his linemates.
He also has one shot on goal and is wearing the same number as he did with the Sabres - #37.

Its 2-0 Amerks after the first period - shots on goal - 11-8 Erie.

Varone gets credited with an assist on Roys goal - must have left the ice (and replaced by Ellis?) before the goal was scored as he currently isn't listed on the scoresheet as being on the ice when the goal happened.

Amerks Lines (Offense) - 92-12-25, 32-22-29, 74-72-10, 91-37-11.

I like those pairings. Glad MacKenzie is playing. Don't want to see Leduc anywhere near this lineup.

Crawford makes it 3-0 Amerks via the power-play - went top shelf.
Adam and Varone (third point of the game) with the assists.

and thats the score after two periods of play. Edit - Amerks lead 19-18 in shots on goal.

Corey Tropp ‏@CTropp25 - Step in the right direction can start skating again #littlecloser

The Amerks are tearing it up right now. How many have they won in a row previous to this game?

W1, but 8-2-0 in their last ten.
