Instead, the commish vetoes it, and the Clips jump in after the fact knowing what kind of offer will be needed.

It's like whenever I make a trade in fantasy football, and then other teams whine because they weren't included in the trade talks.
Did you listen to the audio? There was no trade call.

BTW - commish SLASH acting owner (yeah, I had to write the whole word)

Are you saying there wasn't a trade in place?

It had to be approved by David Stern the owner, didn't it? I said the owner, not the commish. If the Hornets weren't league-owned, the league wouldn't have had any power to veto it. You have to know the consequences if you're dealing with a temporarily league-owned franchise.

Just glad it's working out so well for the Pelicans. Gordon has played 20 games since the trade and they had no choice but to give him a max contract to stay or look like even bigger idiots for letting him walk one season after trading for him.

I could be wrong, but wasn't it approved by owner Stern, then vetoed by commish Stern after all the jealous owners *****ed about it?

The Lakers didn't have to give up any young players. They would've only lost two aging players in Gasol and Odom. It was like, "Hey we've used up their primes so you can have their declining years. Now let us have that superstar PG." The Clippers' deal was better.
The problem is that is resulted in a direct loss of Odom because the terms of the trade were public before the veto. Now I know Odom isn't like losing someone big, but he helped on depth which we no of course lack.

It also pushed the Lakers into these bizarre off-season moves that have proven to be detrimental to the team overall.

Clippers win, and take some of the sting out of the Kings loss this this morning.
