Re-Do Our first 2 picks in each draft 98-05

After looking at the availabilty of center when we drafted. I thought it would be fun to re-draft the first 2 pick from each year. Give it a shot.

Too soon to judge this one, though I like our picks as of now.

So there you have it, but it's kind of hard to "what if..." this one, since the draft can be such a crapshoot. It was fun, anyway.

So we can only draft the players that would have been availble at our pick right? Can we take the trades back too? (1998 which would give us a 2nd rounder in San Jose's spot)

Here's my draft using those guidelines

1998

3rd Overall replacing Legwand

Scott Gomez - responsible in both ends, great playmaker

2nd round - Jonathon Cheecho

1999 replacing Finley and Anderson

6th overall - Martin Havlat

33rd overall - Jordan Leopold

2000 - replacing Widing

6th overall - Scott Hartnell
36th overall - Jarrett Stoll

2001 - replacing Shiskanov

12th Overall - Dan Hamhuis
33rd Overall - Mike Cammalleri

2002 - Replacing Upshall

6th overall - Alex Steen
102nd overall - Petr Prucha

2003 Replacing Suter and Glazachev

7th Overall - Dion Phaneuf
35th Overall - Patrice Bergeron

2004 Replacing Meidl

81st Overall - Brian Gifford (we'd still have his rights anyway)

2005 and 06 too early.

Our lines would be awesome

Kariya-Gomez-Havlat
Sullivan-Bergeron-Erat
Hartnell-Arnott-Cheechoo
Stoll/Cammalleri-Steen-Prucha

Hamhuis-Timonen
Phaneuf-Weber
Leopold-Zidlicky

We didn't have a first-round pick (Witt trade), but selected F Blake Geoffrion in the second round. We also selected Niko Snellman, Mark Dekanich, Ryan Flynn, and Viktor Sjodin in subsequent rounds.

good responses so far. Man the draft is really a crapshoot after the first round.
