Jeff Carter

What would the Kings be looking for in exchange for Jeff Carter. Ottawa is in need of another centre that can be moved to the wing once Spezza is back.

How close/far-off is this proposal?

Michalek, Puempel and a 3rd

for

Carter

The 3rd can be replaced with Bishop if you decide to move Bernier for more assets.

My guess is that Kings fan will come back and say that Carter isn't available.

I would think Ottawa needs defensemen more than centers.

Turris isn't terrible at #2C, is he?

I guess Carter could play wing, but why trade Michalek for Carter?

edit: Just remembered spezza was injured

Our D is holding strong. We are in need of another centre that can play wing. We have been shut out twice this year and we are only 10 games in.

My guess is that Carter would pout in Ottawa the same way he did in Columbus since he wasn't with his BFF and Ottawa isn't know for its night-life either. You probably don't want THAT Jeff Carter.

This.

Carter would be a cancer for any team that he didn't feel like playing on. So unless the Sens are getting Richards and Carter (which will never happen) / thread.

I don't think this is true. Just my opinion but I don't see how you can compare playing for the Jackets to playing for the Sens to make this assessment.

I wouldnt trade Michalek alone for him. Michalek is struggling, but he isn't a headcase and actually wants to be in Ottawa.

Carter isn't an asset that is gaining value, in hindsight, I was amazed Columbus managed to net a 1st and Jack Johnson.

Carter has been the Kings best forward this year, he was one of the few guys who came into camp in shape. If it wasn't for Richards not being in game shape and Penner being a black hole of awful, he would have a couple assists to go along with his four goals.

I don't see why the Kings trade Carter when goal scoring was and is a huge problem for them. Honestly, without Carter they don't make the playoffs last year.

And yeah, if Richards doesn't come with Carter becomes a locker room cancer.

His value was established twice last year. It hasn't changed that much.

Are you saying my proposal is far off?

First time he was traded
Jakub Voracek, a 2011 first round pick and a 2011 third round pick

Second time he was traded
Jack Johnson and a conditional first round pick

I think my value is fair.

I hate how the media has made Jeff Carter out to be a headcase. There is no proof of this, it is on conjecture.

What kind of proof do you need outside of the media? Yeah they made him look like a headcase because he was acting like one. Your value is fair but why risk trading for a player that may very well be not interested in playing for your team.

Before the Flyers traded Carter, Chris Botta wrote a predraft article for his old Pointblank site. He said Carter was one of those players who pouted and questioned whether a young team, should have him in their lockerroom.

It's somewhere in Pointblank's archives. He didn't call Carter a headcase. But, he did seem say he's immature and would sulk if unhappy.

So a guy that had his NYI press credentials pulled by the Islanders is responsible for ruining a players reputation.

Awesome.

No, I'd say the reports from the Philly press, about the Flyers trading Carter to change the culture in their lockerroom, was the hit to his rep.

Botta reporting on his pouting, only to see that behavior later in Columbus, simply re-affirmed Botta's comments.

If I was an Ottawa fan, I'd be pissed about people saying that Carter was a pouter in CBJ so he wouldn't work out for you.

On the Flyers, he was a 40 goal scorer who signed a long term cheap deal to stay with his team.

On CBJ he was a "pouter.".

On the Kings his presence got the Kings to the playoffs. His scoring in the playoffs won some HUGE games. And now he is an "unavailable" player.

So the question is, who does Ottawa identify with...LA, Philly or CBJ. If it's the latter, then you should worry about getting "pouty" Carter.

Not defending Carter, but if you sign your life to a team, is assured, face-to-face, by the GM that you're staying for your entire career in this city with your best friend, only to be dealt away months later to one of the last ranked teams, you'd be a little pissed off to. It doesn't help that you're injured as well. However, even with all your anger and ailments, you still score at a 30 goal pace on that low ranked team.... Cancer is a little strong of a term in this case.

Anyways, as stated, the Kings would have no interest in dealing Carter. He always seems to know where to be to put the puck in the net. He is quite possibly the only player on the team with that ability, as we've had trouble these past few seasons scoring. If we were to trade Carter, we'd be looking to get Carter in return. We'd need another goal scoring sniper. Just isn't going to happen.
