That is absurd. Richards is everything you want from a second line center and he is worth every dime. He's actually underpaid cap wise in todays market. Let's not forget the little things he does for the team, like win all of his battles and win the Kings a cup. Teams win with a guy like Richards and guess what, Richards has won everything, everywhere.

It's just mind boggling isn't it ?

Yes Richards started slow, Yes he got rightly criticized for that.

But the guy is overpaid now and not winner ?

My god...

You realize he's like a whopping two points off that pace after being the most rusty/out of shape player coming in right? Seriously, he's tied for second place on the team in points, if you want to trash guys on this team for not playing-up to their contracts, you can do that with just about everyone right now.

So what about Kopitar, Brown, Carter, Williams, etc., who all currently have the same amount of points. Shouldn't you be criticizing them, too?

This is the type of game the Kings seem to lose (year after freakin' YEAR!!!), but never win.

Score with goalie pulled? Cool!! excitement - this team is finally turning a corner damnit!

Then give the goal back with 4 seconds left...

The Kings outplayed det in every aspect of the game except goals scored (well, that means goaltending)

seen it before and we'll see it again...

What are you guys wanting from the guy.

Cause if your expectation was Richards was going to come in and lead the team in scoring every year.....Well no wonder you're angry.

What should concern people on the whole is, the Kings as a team are a minus.

You are not going to win hockey games giving up goals, and not scoring.
And Richards is 3rd in Kings scoring (Clifford & Kopitar have 6Pts) and has 1G in his first 10 games played this season.
And guess which forward has the most minuses this season and a bad FO%...

He needs to get better ASAP.

If you mean perfectly fine at not producing, then you're correct. They have to produce. Saying Howard shut them down isn't going to cut it when we are 27th in the league, .01% away from 28th. With our talent, this should not be happening. Nearly half of the league is twice as successful as we are. We fired Kompon, there should be no more excuses, we have to produce.

We are right back down to where we started last season, bottom 5 in the league in scoring, except our defense is much worse, and is now bottom 10. They looked better today, but that is only going to go so far. We are now 20% into the season... Need to capitalize on our opportunities and stop giving up untimely goals (especially early and late in games).

Kopitar is not on pace for 60 points in a 82 game season....Where is rant on him ?

Drew has ZERO goals in 10 games, he is paid more than Richards to put the puck into the net.

Matter of fact no one is on a 60 point pace.

If they keep generating chances like that, they will produce. Everyone here is reading so much into small sample sizes of any number of things. I would be much more worried if the powerplay wasn't even generating chances like the beginning of the season.

Really? People rip on Williams and Richards here all the time. I'm not sure where you're getting the impression that they're bulletproof.

BTW.

Ellerby looked ok, he made a few ill passes. But nothing that was really glaring.

Kid looked ok. Hope he can even step his game up more.

Good effort, but bad result. Between this and getting schooled in the Nashville game, it was the wakeup call I think they needed to get over Cup hangover. I wouldn't change anything for tomorrow except have Bernier give Quick a rest.

People are ready to trade Williams( the hardest working forward the Kings have).

So I have no idea why people think Williams doesn't get flak.

Richards is an overpaid Bum to some posters here.

And for people wondering about the Datsyuk goal:

Not that it really matters considering the Kings tied it up and had plenty of other chances to blow the Wings out, but I was curious when I saw it live and on replay...

Richards has been criticized plenty. The start of the season everyone hated on him and it made sense cause he sucked. But he's been fine now and has caught up in the point totals.

And is this some sort of criticism scale where it all must be evened out? No one is scoring goals. You can't just point to one guy and call him the problem when everyone else on the team has the same stats.

I know. I edited the rest of my post. Like I said, it's a moot point since the Kings tied it up and still managed to blow it.

Yeah, that hurts.

I wish we could play him less minutes enabling better minutes. You can see at the end of each game he appears gassed.

Yeah, I thought he might have been off sides when I saw it live/replay as well. Thanks for posting the picture.

The minutes were spread around better today defensively. Doughty only played 25, which is much more in line with what he should be playing.

By the time we get your sample size, we will be 50% into the season. The trade deadline is in less than two months, we need to be in a December mentality. We can't rely on unbelievable finishes.

I am not panicking, but the Kings need to step up and shut these games down. We are losing points right and left and "the lockout" and questioning their "game shape" is becoming a tired excuse. They had their 10 games to get ready, now it is time to perform, and do their jobs.

We are looking better as of late, but it isn't enough, they need to be playing their best hockey from here on out, we can't afford to dig ourselves into a hole we realistically can't dig ourselves back out of. Especially without a first round pick.
