Something less important, but why do networks still use purple to identify us? NBC's scoreboard graphic still had us in purple. Wasn't purple eliminated from our current team colors?
Did the Kings ditch their thirds? I thought the Kings still wore these:
ha at least the Kings fans listen to me, many a Florida fan have pushed my thoughts aside b/c im only 16 and I apparently "don't know anything about hockey" even though I have been around hockey my entire life and have studied the game and certain plays as long as I can remember
I don't recall that at all; and I don't know that many knew you were 16. I can think of a few who may have been callous, but they're like that with me and others as well. We kinda liked having you around, I thought.
If Ellerby can keep playing those minutes and can play with guys like Doughty, he should improve. There were just guys ahead of him and something had to give. He's gonna make mistakes, but he'll learn.
Best of luck going forward.

I'm more surprised that NBC didn't confuse us with an inferior basketball team to the north of us...

Probably. They haven't worn that this season yet. Maybe there's a new third coming next season? But what would be the color? We're simply black and white now. Do we still have silver?
BTW, how do Canadians watch NBC games (not counting online)?

Heartbreaker? More like ballbreaker. Still continue to be flummoxed as to how we have no offense.
Sorry, but this game we had offense, just we went up against a goalie who was crazy good. 99/100 we play like that we get four or five goals. Even the commentators said we should have had a number of goals, just Howard was unreal.

Did you even watch the game? How did we suck? We totally outplayed the Wings most of the game, but Howard was great and Quick wasn't. And how are we 'probably' not making the playoffs? Plenty of games to go and if we play like that going forward we'll easily get in.

If your backups were Phillippe Sauve and Brian Boucher (during his bad years) you'd roll with your starter a lot too. I think Boucher and Sauve had a combined save percentage of .875 that season.

On this game, I don't agree. Howard made some ridic saves today, the one on Brown in the first being a prime example.

Totally agree. Stoll made no effort to even get out to the point until the puck went out there. He was playing low for some reason right from the faceoff.

on NBC.
By the way if goal scoring woes continue:
Carter - Kopitar - Nolan/Toffoli
Gagne - Richards - Williams
Clifford - Stoll - Brown
Richardson - Fraser - Lewis/Nolan
i really like our centres as Kopitar, Carter, Richards and Stoll - play 3 good lines with evenish time and Stoll gets extra time with PK
Trouble is - how do we pick up a goal scoring winger that doesn't want paid too much
don't want to lose one of these centres, so we don't have much of value to trade and no 1st
Bernier, King and a 2014 1st (what/who could that fetch)

Only way to find a scoring winger that isn't paid much is to draft and develop one. If they're looking at one via trade, they'll have to move some salary to fit him in.
I'm thinking that they'll look for outside help this summer as they'll be clearing up quite a bit of cap space due to UFA departures.
We looked very good for long stretches of this game and clearly our struggles are largely due to our missing Dmen.
I can't believe anyone is talking about us not making the playoffs. One its way too early to even have a clue how things will end up going and two we have made the playoffs the past three seasons and won the cup last year.
I know panicking and going off all knee jerk seems fun but it is also kind of sad. Losing sucks and is very frustrating but we aren't even close to being out of it at all yet and I still believe we will put things together and be fine heading into the playoffs.
Yes we do. I believe its set up like a regional deal as well. Vancouver being close to Seattle would get the Seattle feed. Southern Ontario would get Detroit and so on. TSN2 in Canada shows randon NBC games from all over as well. I know where I live (interior of B.C.) we get EST american network too. Wall to wall hockey for sure.
Well im glad sutter is pleased. on another note, that is completely unrelated, why is it so hard to find a college?
How are you looking? Have you spoken with your counselor and asked to give some direction on colleges to look at?
My two biggest mistakes when I was your age is I didn't know what I wanted to do, and I didn't utilize any additional resources. You seem to know what you want to do, so I suggest both asking your school counselor and possibly writing an e-mail to the Rochester Americans training staff and see if they can give you some direction/ideas.
Anyway, onto the game, it's definitely heartbreaking. I got home a bit later and only saw the second half of the game, but the Kings looked like they were in control. These collapses and defensive miscues HAVE to stop.
Either way, good on Howard for having a great game.
You're right. I am not a fan. I originally liked the trade and appreciated his contribution in the playoffs after a poor season, but come on, look how much money he is making and is going to make. Richards salary this year was 8 million, you think he is an $8 million player?
I have no issues with him as a 3rd line center, but with a cap hit close to $6 for the next 7 years, I think if someone made an offer the Kings would be dumb not to take it. How many 3rd line players are making that much money?
I know he is a favorite of yours, but come on, the Kings traded for and took on that massive deal expecting something close to the 07-10 version of MR, not a 3rd line center.
Didnt you have the same gripe with Ryan Smyth? Too much money, cap space, the dude sucks and is over paid for what he contributes...
Not that it really matters considering the Kings tied it up and had plenty of other chances to blow the Wings out, but I was curious when I saw it live and on replay...
I'm glad i wasnt the only one who saw it as offside. Home ice call for sure.

Diffent situations. Smyth was a ridiculously poor short sighted trade for a player who was grossly overpaid, had no upside and was actually on the decline.
I don't fault Lombardi for the Richards trade, the Kings could not go another season with Stool as the #2 center, and they didn't want to wait for Schenn to develop (if he ever did), so the trade made a ton of sense. I don't know if DL made the trade expecting the 08 version of Richards or the 2011 one, but I know he certainly didn't make the trade thinking MR would be struggling to hold down a 2nd line spot.
If MR is a 3rd liner going forward that's ok, the issue is the Kings will need to find a 2nd liner to replace him, and one who isn't expensive since our 3rd line C will have the cap hit of a 1st or very good 2nd line center.
