48 vs 82

I actually think I like the shortened schedule better. Perhaps 48 may be a little too short of a schedule but I like the greater importance of each game.... then again it just may be the great start!

It's definitely more interesting, as far more teams have something to play for.

I honestly wouldn't mind seeing a schedule from December 1- till End of April. Like 60 games or so.

yeah, i've wanted a schedule of around 65-72 games for a while. 82 is just a scosh too long. 48 is too short, but it's a lot better than 0

66 games, home and away against every team with an additional home and away series against division teams.

I think 82 games is kind of long.

I kind of like the October start, but would rather see the playoffs over and done with sooner. Or maybe run November to May.

I do think fewer games with a little more time between them would probably help prevent some injury so I wouldn't necessarily advocate shortening the season in length by much but allowing for fewer back to backs and a little more recovery time.

I think 72 games is a good number. I really like the intensity and focus teams have right now and it makes for great hockey night in and night out. My wallet would also enjoy it

I don't know what makes sense schedule wise but I agree I like the shorter schedule.

I prefer 48... but not as crammed in as this year.
Around 50 games, regular season from October till February, March and April reserved for the playoffs, thank you very much.

I don't see how less Bruins would be a good thing.

Count me in as a fan of 82 (well, prefer 70ish but...). In spite of the great start, I`ve long disliked these lockout seasons because the odds increase that the healthiest, not the strongest team wins and I believe that there are many teams (see the Leafs as suspect #1) who play well for half the season in an 82 gamer, then fade, or vice verca and it separates the men from the boys, in a shortened season, too many of those boys make the playoffs

70 would be ideal for me, but the league has to grow a lot if they want to shorten the season.

I could deal with 48 games under one condition. That they lessen the number of teams that make the playoffs. Right now, the regular season is an exhibition season until the playoffs start. Give the regular season more significance by using it to cull the lesser of the herd going into the playoffs.

I guess I'm a 50 year old kid, but as far as I'm concerned when the weather is warm I want to be outside. Start hockey in late October, finish it in mid May or earlier. Play as many games as you want in between. A daytime game in June makes me want to do serious physical damage to whatever ignoramus comes up with that nonsense.
