Brian Boyle for Defenseman

What deals would your team do centered around Brian Boyle?

What kind of defenseman do the Rangers need? Do you prefer a puck-mover or a stay-at-home guy? I want Boyle for Buffalo.

I'd look at moving Ballard...is Boyle suited for a 3C role? And how is his foot speed?

Would the Rangers have any interest in a bottom 6 forward as well?

Quincey + one of:

Miller -- Good 3rd/4th line minute eater, hard worker, good PKer, good up to 20p and a few goals. Absolutely nothing remarkable about his game, though.
Eaves -- Speedy, RH shot, decent shot when he uses it, solid PKer. Question mark after long injury.
Emmerton -- Depth center. Defensively responsible (for a 4th liner) but not a good forechecker. Slight offensive upside.
Cleary -- Good PKer, defensively sound, occasionally pots clutch goals, declining offense
Mursak -- Speedy winger, good PKer, possible slight scoring upside (20-25p max), injury prone

for Boyle + something?

Or if the Rags can't fit/don't need a bottom 6 forward, something around Quincey for Boyle?

I'm not a Quincey hater like some of the other Wings fans around here, I just don't think he's a good fit system-wise for the Wings.

He's not a slow guy, fixed his skating problems from his first year with the team to the second year. The guy just fell out of the lineup. He's a great PK guy, and is a hard worker. Can definitely be a #3 C.

I'd definitely do Quincey for Boyle.

I would seriously consider this. I'm not super 100% on the value but it's close enough that.. yea. I like the needs that are addressed here.

Wings get a big dude for the bottom 6 and a big dude for depth on the back end. Rags get an experienced bottom 6 winger and a decent #4/5 d-man that can chip in at both ends of the ice--I think Quincey would fit the Rags a lot better than the Wings, and the Wings really need someone up front like Boyle.

I have to say, though, the idea of a Smith-Kindl pairing makes me cringe. Wings lines would look more like this:

Franzen - Zetterberg - Brunner
Filppula - Datsyuk - Bertuzzi
Abdelkader/Tatar - Helm - Samuelsson (Tatar probably gets sent back down)
Abdelkader/Miller - Boyle - Tootoo
Emmerton, Eaves

Kronwall - White
Smith - Ericsson
Bickel/Huskins - Kindl
Huskins/Bickel

(I'm not even going to pretend a healthy Colaiacovo exists)

I would not want to play against that 4th line.

Doug Murray would do pretty well in the East and is much better than John Scott on the ice and brings the same toughness, albeit not as much from fighting but his hits.

When you're being sat in favour of Corey freakin' Potter you know things are bad. Whitney was a healthy scratch today in the Oilers 3-1 victory over the Columbus BJs. That being said, he can be steady most of the time. But he's lost some foot speed, and he's still trying to adapt I think.

How about:

To Oilers:
B. Boyle
Eminger

To Rangers:
Ryan Whitney

Also, if Boyle gets moved it won't be until the deadline or near it; Miller has been playing well but if he can't keep it up (and that's a pretty significant 'if') we'll need Boyle.

Any interest?

I think he'd be great on the Habs, we need a stable centre for our fourth line that can help our defensively and on faceoffs and he seemed to play well with Prust.

Not sure what the Rangers would want from the Habs, however.

Not a big Boyle fan. But moving him would be a mistake.

I like Asham, but I would prefer Boyle on the wing with Powe and Halpern.

Also, Miller is not yet a 2nd line center. Not even close.

Kreider - Miller - Callahan is a very very solid 3rd line. No need to put more pressure on the kid to produce 2nd line numbers.

Unless the deal is a no brainer for the Rangers, there's no sense in moving Boyle right now.

Just move Boyle back to defense, didn't he play D in college? He can't be worse than Bickel...

Otherwise, the Pens would offer Engelland, but nothing more.

I've wanted Boyle on THE BRUINS for years. How about Bartkowski and Cross. Boyle would be our #4 C and we'd move Campbell to #3 C or LW.

It was mentioned in another thread, but I think Boyle for Roszival makes a ton of sense for both teams.

What Jordan Leopold and Cody McCormick/Nathan Gerbe from the Sabres? Leopold has struggled a bit lately, but I think he would be fine with a change of scenery. McCormick and Gerbe just seem to be the odd men out with the current roster.
