Yes. He had to leave to Edmonton just days before the counted time to his second child. That is how dedicated he is. Hoping all goes well and the family will be reunited after its safe for the child to travel.

Deserved it too, outside of Dubnyk he was the best Oiler on the ice last night. Was just everywhere. If he keeps that up its gonna be pretty hard to rationalize sitting him when Jones and Eager are back.

He had a fantastic game yesterday. Even besides the goal, he made some huge shot blocks and was a beast on the PK. Great, great game by him.

After Dubnyk... best Oiler on ice last night...

More often than not he's one of the hardest workers on any given night. Good to see him get a goal.

After an outstanding game last night, I predict Petrell will have a bad game tonight against the Sharks. Logic is that he looked incredibly tired at the end of the Coyotes game. I caught him at the end of his shifts in the 3rd period and he looked like he could barely make it to the bench. If Krueger was really astute and picked up on that, I wouldn't blame him for giving Petrell a rest.

What's becoming more and more apparent about Petrell, though, is how defensively sound he is. I mean he's not just a good defensive guy, he's great. Seems like he's never out of position, ever.

Petrell has turned out to be an incredible pickup. Glad he's in Edmonton. Unfortunately it looks like Paajarvi and Hartkainen will end up in the AHL when the roster is healthy.

You know, I thought Petrell was a decent pickup but also thought he was ultimately replaceable.

Last night was the first time I felt where he had a huge impact on the game at both ends. Maybe it's the new linemates, I dunno.

I'd keep Harti over PRV at this point, I thought PRV has had one great game this year and otherwise has been completely replaceable.

Guess Petrell is okay after all, eh? Nice game last night, but like all bottom 6 players, they need to be kept hungry and can not take even one night off. Same with extra bottom pairing dmen. Treat them like a pack of dogs and throw them the scrap of a spot in the lineup when they play well. Have a bad game, and it's off to the PB. Short leash. Competition is no good unless there is reward and punishment. Or, as Ralph would probably say in his positive tone....reward, and not so much.

Injuries are allowing that to happen, but he's making the most of it. Not hurting his team out there and gives 100% every shift.

I really liked petrells effort last night, he was one of few who showed heart out there.
He had a couple great pk shifts.
