Dubnyk Vs Schneider

Who is better?

Both were taken in the 1st round of the 2004 draft.

Dubnyk is the starter for the Edmonton Oilers.

Schneider is currently part of a tandem with Luongo in Vancouver.

Who has proven more?

Who will have the better career?

This will not be pretty, its obviously Schnieder though. Even with Dubnyks play.

tough to say. Schneider has a more rounded defensive team in front of him. Dubnyk has looked good behind a team that has looked very shaky far too often this year.

i feel like schneider ends up having better stats. even at their height i don't think the oilers will be the most defensively aware team.

Obviously the "starter" is better than any guy in a "tandem". Is that the type of reaction you were trying to get there?

Not at all, I wrote what their current situations are. Anyone aside from those under rocks know about the Luongo/Schneider debacle.

I wouldn't bother creating a poll if being a starter already meant that one was better than the other...

I wanted unbiased opinions on the matter. In no way was this meant to draw a negative reaction from Vancouver fans.

While still maintaining a higher save %, and not to mention facing more shots than anyone in the league aside from Miller.

If Schneider and Dubnyk switched teams, do you think the stats would be similar to what they are now?

Dubnyk has been better lately, but Schneider hasn't been that bad. Still, Schneider will win in a landslide because he almost won a cup, and Dubnyk plays for the crappy Oilers.

Watching the Oilers this is unfortunatly true. Last season hed let in a weak goal in the first or second it would deflate the team.

This season he will stand on his head for 60 mins and stop 35, then let a weak overtime goal in (see: Dallas, Vancouver)

I'm not sold that Dubnyk can be a full time starter in the NHL and succeed. Schneider is a beast though, this poll isn't really fair.

Dubnyks facing the most shots in the league right now and putting up bonafide starter numbers. This is in fact close.

Take away Schneider's one game vs. Anaheim and look at the numbers again. That game is an outlier, we all know he's better.

Then take out Dubnyk's one game against San Jose. As of right now, he has the fourth best save percentage in the league even with that 6 goal game on his resume, and has been Edmonton's MVP so far this season. I think its a lot closer than most people here think.

This is funny, considering that one goalie actually is a full time starter in the NHL, and the other is stuck as a pair with a more proven goalie.

Ahh I was waiting for this one. Schneider has one of the best goalies in the past decade on his team in Luongo. He's shown that he can dominate at the NHL level and handle a workload, and the teams Dubnyk have played on, well, have picked 1st the past 3 years. Not saying that at all is Dubnyk's fault, but this is clearly Schneider. He's one of the best young goalies in the league...

Okay take away Dubnyk's terrible game against San Jose.

That can go both ways.

Kevin Bieksa
Alexander Edler
Dan Hamhuis
Jason Garrison
Keith Ballard
Chris Tanev

Much better than

Justin Schultz
Jeff Petry
Ladislav Smid
Nick Schultz
Ryan Whitney
Corey Potter

Not to mention that EDM has been short handed more than any other team in the league, while facing the most shots against short handed.

Vancouver is 11th in PK time. People seriously need to stop jumping on bandwagons without looking at the facts...

Dubnyk is very underrated.

You can argue that he's underrated all you want. He's not better than Schneider.

Schneider

However, if Dubnyk keeps playing like he is right now it'll be closer

Dubnyk is solid, but Schneider for sure. Just not convinced Dubnyk is a legit starter. His play can be streaky, and he has a habit of letting in bad goals consistently.

Oh & Take away one game and CS's GAA is around 1.50 or less and his SV% .940

It's really not a fair poll, I like Dubnyk, but Schneider and it's not particularly close either, not a landslide but not a tight race as the poll indicates.
