Don't shoot me

I've been reading Tj Code's chat at another site and here is some of the things he posted:

1) St.LOuis Blues interested in Weekes and Aebischer

2) Havlat is NOT returning to Ottawa, he will only sign a multi year deal at 5mill per, Muckler can't give him that. Rangers front runners for Havlat.

3) The rumour about Pronger's wife sleeping with a teammate is false

4) The Habs ARE talking to Sykora. Gainey is now looking for a winger with speed but will be patient. Sykora in talks with the Habs, Rangers, Oilers, and Canucks. Rangers and Habs have made contract offers to Sykora. Code thinks Rangers will get him.

5) Scott Gomez WILL be traded, but whoever gets him will have to take on Mogilny's contract.

6) Souray is going to stay put in MTL, he will NOT be traded unless the Habs can sign Poti and Markov.

7) Gainey will NOT make an offer to a RFA, he will wait and sign and trade if he goes after a RFA, but not make a offer sheet.

If you want to read his answers :

I thought the thing about Havlat was that he only wants to sign a 1-year contract so he can test UFA the year after? Which is why no one's clambering for him? I could be way off base/thinking about someone else entirely though...

Code says Havlat is willing to sign a long term deal but only at 5mill + per season and Ottawa is offering a lot less, thus why he says 1 year.

Code also says Ryder asked for 2.5 million per year.

If The Habs ''Bob Gainey'' are making a stong push for someone like Sykora, for me, it means the Habs don't see Kostitsyn in high regards for next year or not at all anymore because Sykora would obviously be a multi year deal.

I don't like that at all.

Yes but still. Kovy is sign longterm. Ryder is our only RH shooter of the team, you need to keep him for that reason alone. Higgins will be there aswell. Kost and Zhogy should battle for the last top 6 spot (along with Zed and maybe Lats in future). If you bring in Sykora, who will for sure sign on a multi year deal, there will be no place for our future winger for atleast two years. I don't see Gainey/Carbo having a 3rd line of Kost-Plek-Zhogy, do you...

The fans deserve better than Sykora and Poti. That would be insulting. Gainey's reputation is on an official slide if either of those two sign.

i wouldn't mind going with a scoring third line that would be great

I also agree with you though about signing sykora just causing the development of the kids to be delayed.

Kosty and Perez should be full timers on this team next year

FOR THE LOVE OF GOD WE DONT NEED TO SIGN ANY UFA'S

the scouting staff and farm system have been working there ***** off to build a solid foundation over the last few years we have weeded out some of the not going to make its (balej, Hainsey et al) and now its time to let the true talents take flight

patience people patience.

Our most signifigant need is a C a number one C
with all due respect to Koivu who has been one of our only bright spots over a very dark decade he is just not a number 1 C his injury troubles and size make that impossible.

Gainey knows this more than anyone and in due time for the right price it will get fixed.

ive said this along time ago before code about st louis and Aebischer

http://hfboards.com/showthread.php?t=261706

my thinking was

Christian Backman and Orszagh (he plays either side)

and im sticking to that . i know sandford was good for the blues . he might get the chance to start as number 1 but with the players they just brought in there goal is the playoffs and my bet is they will pick up a guy who they know can shoulder the load like abby.

Orszagh who is nicknamed "the Slovakian Tank" is a player the habs could use to repace bulis .we lack this type of player

to quote tsn

"Is fearless when going to the net"

http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/teams/players/...90&hubname=nhl

abby to st louis might be the plan

There is no way in he11 that any GM out there would make a deal like that, Gomez is a good hockey player but your not getting a 1st line star centre at that asking price of taking on Mogilny's salary against your cap...a GM would have been better off offering the max to UFA's at that price.

Ummm...gee...am I missing something? or is Gainey? Havlat is EXACTLY what the Habs need.
