He has a huge contract... not that we're having trouble with capspace. I'd rather get a blue chip prospect and a first because I don't think Grabovski is a long term plan.
I'd make that swap in heartbeat as a leaf fan, which makes me know that avs fans want nothing to do with it. If they wanted to pay a C 5.5 they'd give it to ROR
He could be a valuable piece to a team like say Anaheim if one of perry of getzlaf don't sign. With grabbo you know what your getting & you have cost certainty for a few years
With that contract, I don't know about that, not this year anyways.

Grabo has indeed improved his defensive game this season and has the offense in him to go on a tear.
Fan favorite.
I'm a big fan of both players (Zajac and Grabo) and Zajac is better. Not really compapable other than that both can play a 2-way game. Zajac is much bigger and produces more.

I don't think Grabo is much better than Vermette, if at all, I don't think he would garner substantially more.
I'm not a Leafs fan, but I don't see how a Leaf fan could possibly suggest keeping Bozak over Grabovski is a good idea. Maybe it is just my opinion, but I think Grabovski is twice the player Bozak is.

No, they are about equal offensively, Grabovski is a bit more creative.
But Bozak is very solid defensively so he can center the 3rd line and still put up points. Grabovksi does not have that 2-way game in him. Bozak is also a better faceoff guy and good on the PK.

agreed. Bozak hits a little hot streak for a few games and moron fans think its time to clear out the better of the two for the past 2 years

I just don't agree with you. I think Grabovski is the better player and would do very well as a 3rd line center. I do not think they are equal offensively either. Bozak's success seems to have quite a bit to do with Phil Kessel while Grabovski is the catalyst of his line. It would also be an option to convert one of them to a wing and kind of follow the Boston model of have a few centers playing wing that can take faceoffs or play center in case of an emergency. Would it be so bad to have Bozak and Grabovski on the 3rd line if they somehow acquired a #1 center?

Reality is -- Grabovski is our checking line centre. When you've got the other 2 lines centred by Bozak and Kadri, the checking line needs to be able to score.
Grabovski does that... and we need him at the very least until we get a quality #1C, that allows us to have a more dedicated checking line. There is no reason to even consider trading him (or making a downgrade at C at this time). The Leafs are finally in a spot where the C position isn't a huge problem... and you've got some ridiculous fans wanting to downgrade.

If you are willing to move him, what are you looking for?
A centre better than he is. In the case of Vancouver, likely Kesler.

Oh, well as long as we are keeping ourselfs grounded in reality..

I don't think he was inferring that a grabbo for kesler swap straight across but that's what it would take to move grabbo- he'd be part of a package going the other way for a C

How is Bozak equal to Grabo offensively? He put up less numbers while playing with PPG wingers last year... Add up Kulemin + MacArthurs point totals from last year and its less pts than Kessel had alone, let alone adding in Lupul as a linemate...
Defensively, Grabo is underrated, though I'd still give Bozak the edge.
Personally I don't think Bozak is a top 6 C on a good team. I think he should be groomed as the 3rd line C. Defensively responsble + some offensive abilities.
Realistically the choice should be between keeping Grabo or Kadri for the 2nd line C spot. I'd say Kadri, simply because he's younger/cheaper/higher upside.

Zajac is at 5.75... Do you believe he will garner a 1st?
Grabovski would get a 1st if he were being shopped, not in the top 15, but I think he'd net us a 1st rounder + B prospect easily.
It would be moronic of Nonis to trade Grabovski right now though, unless he had some sort of backup plan up his sleeve.

Zajac is 2 inches taller then Grabovski, so I'm not sure how you can say he is much bigger. Also how exactly does Zajac produce more? I can see you making an argument for 08/09 or 09/10 but Zajac hasn't produced more than Grabovski in years. I realize Zajac's achilles was injured last year, but this year he's only on pace for 12 points in 48 games.

Grabovski IS better then Vermette, I'm curious do you watch much leaf games? Or do you just believe because a player outscored Grabovski's NHL highs 5 years ago means that the player is better NOW?
