I chuckled when I saw this in the game but then I got sad when Tampa scored 'cause of it. Rangers have got 5 too many players on the ice penalties already. They barely avoided a new one. And because of this awful line change Tampa established pressure and eventually scored. They ****ed up Lundqvists shutout . On 5 too many men on the ice penalties Rangers have let in 4 goals on those 5 boxplays. And now this play ****ed them in the *** and gave the opponents a goal.
Rangers are currently known for too many guys on the ice call and a horrendous PP, quite embarrassing.
No one wanted to be blamed for yet another too many men penalty. When you're the team that has about 342 of those in a season you'll find your players making changes like this.
Pretty much this... it's so annoying though. I mean how the **** do you manage getting that kind of penalty that many times in the span of like 10 games? It's beyond bad, it's a trainwreck out there when the line is about to be changed .
I feel like Staal is like "Save yourselves! It's too late for me!"
It's pure comedic gold! Not only is he straggling, but the puck hits his skate as he's desperately trying to jump the boards. You think he's made it... then he falls. It's like everything that could go wrong, did.
It was fantastic... except for it leading to a goal and swinging the momentum to TBL for a while. Torts was pissed for periods of that game due to some lapses leading to breakaways, 2-on-1's, etc. That was just icing on the cake.
As convincing as that win was, it was pretty iffy at times out there. Gotta be better than that.
