My thoughts exactly. I would bet if you took a poll of these boards this lineup would win by a landslide.

No biggie, but if Bogo is available against the Flyers I'd rather swap Redmond and Postma on the third pair. Postma's greater offensive abilities aren't what the Jets need against the Flyers (look at last years games), I think Redmond would tend to calm things down more on that third pairing.

If the game would up going all river hockey on us (as much fan as that is to watch), the Postma pair would be a liability on out end of the ice.

Yeah for me Redmond and Postma are both great options.

For me it just comes down to contract status I guess. Playing Postma allows us to showcase him to the rest of the league since I think Redmond is the keeper. Cant forget Hainsey though too he has played so well that now we arent trying to run him out of town and forcing us to choose between our young defenders

Buff - Enstrom
Redmond - Hainsey
Bogosian (to ease him in) - Stuart

That's my guess.

Early D-pairings at #NHLJets practice this am; Bogosian-Stuart, Redmond-Hainsey, Postma-Clitsome, Byfuglien-Enstrom.

If it stays the same it will be Clitty and the Postman going to the big pressbox in the sky.

IMO, having different standards for different players and having multiple levels of accountability is the quickest way to ruin rookies and foster a country club atmosphere for the vets. I watched that unfold for years in Columbus.

Back on topic. Redmond has outplayed Clitsome for the games he's been in and he's earned a chance to continue plying until his play drops off. I'm not saying it won't drop off but that's not the point.
This is exactly what happend in Edmonton under MacT. He let the veterans get away with things while holding the young players to much higher standards. This eventually created a divide in the locker room that led to his firing and a purge of many of the complacent vets.

That's the last thing anyone wants to see here. Everyone's play should do the talking for themselves and I'm in agreement that Redmond has earned the right to stay up for the time being.

With 2 D coming back off injuries against the Flyers I would definitely dress 7 D this game, probably sit Wellwood.

Noel probably sits Postma and Redmond.

That's weird, I bumped into Zach on the way to the rink. He wasn't on the ice? Maybe a maintenance day?

He was there. He skated with Hainsey, then Noel jumbled the pairings.

Whew. I thought he was there to have 'the meeting'

PS If Noel plays Pavelec over Montoya, I will be unhappy. For the amount of ice this kid has seen over the past 9 months, you HAVE to reward him for a very solid performance against the Sens.

We do have a plethora of American Zach's in town!

I got my pic with him after seeing him twice last week

Coach Claude Noel post-practice audio

Coach Noel - Updates on Dustin Byfuglien and Zach Bogosian. Goalie decision for Tuesday? Health of Pavelec. What does he need to see with Bogosian before he is ready to go? Who might come out? Where has the team missed Byfuglien the most? How Buff helps Enstrom. Team focus on Enstrom sans Buff. Wellwood talk. How indicative are Blake Wheeler’s stats on his level of play? Montoya’s work ethic. How satisfied is he with the line adjustments?

I disagree.
Should Montoya be rewarded with more playing time? Yes.
I don't think it means he has to play two games in a row. I want to play every game to win, and I think on a consistent basis Pavs will give us a better shot to win.
And I think this is true of tomorrow night.

Personally I'd rather see Pavs play, IF he's 100% healthy.
Montoya earned more playing time with that start, but its just one game.

Has someone told the Flyers not to shoot glove hand high? My preference is to go with the hot hand, and right now that would be Montoya.

I can understand either option.

I personally believe in going with the best goalie over the hot one. Noel got bit by playing Mason back to back last year so I would fully understand going with Pavelec.

I am really not sure how much better Pavi is though. If Noel sees them as close I would also understand rolling with the hot hand. Both goalies have career .906 save percentages afterall.

Ultimately it is about winning games. I say go with the gyt that gives you the best chance to win. I don't know who that is, start whoever.
