We get too caught up in the "winning a fight" part of fighting. Team Toughness is markedly more important than having one John Scott on your roster. On most nights the Bruins dress 8+ guys that are willing to fight when needed (McQuaid, Ference, Boychuk, Chara, Lucic, Horton, Thornton, Campbell). Having a bunch of guys willing to stick up for each other is what it's all about if you're a contending team. Having sideshow clowns like John Scott is what it's about when the vast majority of your roster has their gloves glued to their hands.

No one can argue with that, but I just would rather not ever watch him in a fight ever again.

Very good post... I do think Buffalo has more guys that will go then you give em credit for . They already have 7 guys who have fought this season.

I must say I would have much rather seen McQuaid or even Ference go with Kaleta than Campbell

I agree. We just haven't seen much of it against the Bruins the last few years..

McQuaid, Lucic, Horton and Thornton sure were quiet in terms of physical play yesterday and last wee. It doesn't help that 3 of them are concussed and would get sent to the hospital dropping with Scott.

Your odds of Kaleta obliging reduce substantially

Who give a **** as long as they're winning? Buffalo can sit in the basement with their goon Scott and enjoy looking up at the rest of the conference.

Bruins, fighting and winning all go hand in hand... You can't have one without the other two!..

We might not have beat the Nucks if they weren't deathly afraid of us!

I'd rather see them out there intimidating instead of being intimidated and skating away when Scott comes over, like McQuaid did last night.

Campbell loses every fight, not phased by that. Thornton lost to the second biggest guy in the league, not worried by that at all either. Thornton has fought boogaard, laraque, brashear, orr and others and has done just fine. He will bounce back from this concussion and fight heavies, he just needs to make sure he's completely healthy before he does. we have toughness throughout our lineup, we don't need a useless goon like scott for that very reason.

fighting is still our friend. i also bet that Thornton will fight scott before the season is done and Thornton will do just fine

He went with Lucic....He certainly would go with Ference...and destroy him more then likely...McQuaid on the other hand, not so sure..

campbell didnt have to win. Kaletta was running around early in that game and as soon as campbell challenged him kaletta went away as was rarely seen the rest of the game. gregory campbell did his job and i can assure you his teamates appriciated it, even if some of the fans didnt

Why did McQuaid skate away when Scott showed up after he pushed Kaleta ? Because he knew he'd get pummelled and no one would come to his help, exact same reason why Kaleta didn't want to fight last year.

Playing physically and dropping the gloves are two different things, though the Bruins are good at both. I don't recall any out-and-out fights in the SCF, though there was certainly plenty of banging around.

The Bruins pretty much have to play physically to win. They don't HAVE to fight to win.

I saw Scott come over to McQuaid and they were face to face. I didn't see McQuaid turtle. Why did mcQuaid dare touch kaleta with Scott on the ice?

Buffalo was a mediocre team, and in order to make themselves "tougher" they cut their talent level even more. And their golden boy on defense is such a mess he's getting scratched.

They got lucky once, and even then they gave up 4 goals. Buffalo's defense last night reminded me of the Dave Lewis team. They're headed for a lottery pick, and I doubt winning a few fights against Boston is going to make their fans feel any better about it.
