The New Jersey Devils are looking for forward depth and I could see this as an excellent bargain grab for the Devils if MacArthur could be had for cheap - especially coming off two 20 goal seasons w/ Toronto. Tedenby would be a "throw in" and the real value would be the 2nd round pick. Although I believe the scenery change could do Teddy some benefit.
This would leave NJD would a possible lineup of:
MacAuthur-Zajac-Kovalchuk
Elias-Henrique-Clarkson
Matteau-Josefson-Butler (Zubrus when he returns)
Carter-Gionta-Bernier
I would do it as a Leaf fan. I am justing wondering if Tedenby is on a 1 way contract or if he is still young enough that we can send him to work with Eakins on the Marlies. I feel he comes from the same mould as a guy like Kadri, fast and willing to get his nose dirty. Not sure if Nonis will end up trading Mac because Carlyle gave him the A.
Why would Toronto want to do this? Tedenby has proven nothing. If you want the pick then maybe NJ is interested, but more likely a third not a second. Is MacArthur really this much persona-non-grata in Toronto?
That is why i think teams may take a second look at Mac.
He is a adequate player for any role on the wing. Not a world beater or anything, but he can get the job done; and is a good player for that matter.
In Toronto, it just seems we don't have a use for him in our lineup(once Lupul is back). However, if someone were to get hurt, he is the type of player to jump into that role; rather then splitting up other lines to compensate.
A 2nd(from a contender - so early 3rd) + prospect.
2nd + 5th maybe. Or I'd take Severson straight up.
Eh, Tedenby has the potential to be a quality NHL player. The problem with him is that his style of play completely clashes with NJ's current system. Deboer does not trust him. He had a good year with Maclean/Lemaire though. I think sending him to Toronto would give him the chance to shine and finally "prove himself".

Leafs are enforcing a similar style of play. He won't fit, trust me.
Maybe send him to a team for a pick, and then we'll take the pick instead.
I actually think a player like MacArthur would thrive in a NJD system. Fits their mold, as far as return, I'd expect just a 2nd for MacA from a contender like the Devils. You could probably get a late 1st if he heats up and a team like the Pens has some injuries on wing since they're paper thing at that position.
CMac for a 2nd is a fair deal IMO. I'm 99% sure he's going to get traded for a 2nd round pick.
He's scored 20 goals the last two seasons, good forechecker, hard shot, decent playmaker but he has been buried on the Leafs because other wingers are doing better right now.
Mac is a good second liner, but I doubt he flourishes as a first liner. He does not create enough offense on his own and is not big enough to park in front of the net to get kovalchucks rebounds. His success can definetly be attributed to grabo and kulemin. When they play good so does he. I would take a 2nd just to make room on the team. It's usually stressful to watch him play because he is skilled just doesn't know how to use his skill and sometimes just floats around the ice.

Once again 1 and 2 way contracts have nothing to do with waiver eligibility.
Personally I'd rather see NJ hang onto their 1st's and 2nd's for the next few years especially since we have to forfeit a 1st either this year or the next.
I'm a believer that Tedenby just needs time to get stronger. I wouldn't be upset if we traded him, but I'd want him to be packaged for a bigger fish if we did dangle him out there. That and Im reluctant to part with any seconds since the Devils have to give up a first soon, and we need to replenish our forward depth.
We can still use him here in Toronto with all the injuries this season but it's true when healthy that LW - Lupul (R) and LW - van Riemsdyk (L) have taken him out of our top 6 and we have better long term solutions for the bottom 6.
Still don't want to dump the guy though... I'm not familiar with Tedenby.

Throw him our way, he will never work in your system but he might in ours.
I would be willing to take a chance on him, what is he worth? Mid round pick in this years draft? Or another prospect that might suit you better?
I'd do the OP, Mattias Tedenby + 2nd round pick 2013.
or Alexander Urbom + 3rd round pick 2013.
It would be great if this could work. Urbom is a good prospect, but we have D prospects in spades. It allows us to give him a shot, and it also allows us to conserve our 2nd in case we decide to forfeit our 1st.
