Ok granted I'm no hockey expert but Pandalpho's stats for the last few years are terrible. Serious/stupid question, how is he a better depth option than Bourque/Tardiff, etc?

I know he was in the official photo shoots for some reason, even without a contract.

New Jersey didn't want him anymore so the Islanders took their scraps.

Then the Islanders didn't want him anymore so the....wait.... what?

Brutal signing. Waste of a contract spot.

So that means he'll be in Toronto next year since they've already picked up Mike Mottau.

I'm with you, I just don't get it unless they want flexibility to let someone like Campbell go in a deal.

If chia is in a signing mood he should give that kid in your avatar a contract.

He'll bring more to the team than Matt Kassian would.

Claude wants to bring him in for more of a defensive presence when we're on the power-play

Usually these types of signings are just depth moves, but with the rumors mentioned earlier in the thread, I wonder if it could be a precursor to something?

I mean, if the B's were considering a 2 for 1 deal for someone like Carlson, then they'd have a hole in their lineup. Pandolfo could be a short-term fill-in.

i think having played under Julien wins him some favour from our coach. He must think Pandolfo can contribute under his system.

for me, i'll reserve judgement when the situation materializes. i do know, having 2x stanley cup rings should mean he knows what it takes.

i believe he blocks a shot a game, kills penalties regularly. injuries are sure to hit, but if CJ truly believes he can step in and beat the learning curve a new guy might need, i'm all for it.

that said, it is hard to say whether he truly is washed up until i see it myself

I like your post

it still makes me wonder IF he's that cheap and does all those things good ... Why hasn't NJ snatch him up or a year ago re-signed him ?

other then that.. I like the depth move

If nothing else he's a vet 13th fw for road trips that allows the likes of McD and Tardif or some other PB kid game time in the minors instead of press box time.

Kassian isn't actually the guy I was thinking of for that role --but seeing as you are trying to be a smartass (doesn't work for you, you have to be 'smart' to being with) I'll play along. Re: Kassian: in less than 1/2 the games (24 to 62) as Pandolfo last year, Kassian had 2x as many goals.

You say: "But, but, but Kassian sucks, he only had 2 goals."
I say: "Exactly."

He also brings a physical element that JP cannot even dream about bringing.

Nothing against JP's career --guy was a stud back in the day but he's what, 38 now? Julien loves bringing in these ancient vets that have very little left in the tank and don't end up doing jack **** for us in the long run. Rolston or Yelle, anyone?

*The Islanders will pretty much pick up anything off the waiver wire and yet they didn't want anything to do with bringing him back for a 2nd season.

Very doubtful. As a matter of fact a kassian type would have spared Thornton his concussion.

Pandolfo wont bring more than a Jamie tardiff

can't say I'm excited about Pandolfo at all. I don't see any value at all with the exception of maybe leadership or the vet presence. I don't see that being worth the contract spot
