@RenanEdm Just because they didn't play him doesn't make him useless. Now the Oilers have NOBODY
hahah as if he was making it any better. great personality but give me a break. that dude was making such minimal impact with his "brute" on making it hard to play against. he can't even keep up with the play. some of these media guys have such weird biases.

these guys dumb their game down a little bit and get some greasy goals: no one even remembers this happened.

Unless Hordi was intimidating the other team from the PB I don't think these comments apply.

Fantastic. One less completely useless player on the roster. I hope that ends the run of goons playing in Edmonton. If you find a player like Laraque who was a legitimate fourth liner in his prime that is also a heavyweight, fine. But enough of these players that essentially give the other team an unofficial powerplay every time they are on the ice.

People wanted him gone then when he gets waived all we get are complaints.

Make up your damn minds.

.
Didn't the next game he take a player out, into our goalie, and cut his own head?

He had 40 plus games last year, not exactly bad for a player in his role.

Seriously all those shenanigans in the toronto/montreal game happened when the score was way out of hand, in a competitive game are the tough guys for toronto even out there that late? Guy like Hordichuk can't play the game at a high enough level to justify his presence on a roster, you dress him you're going into a game shorthanded essentially and he does nothing to stop other teams from playing physical. Too much concern over a dying breed of player here. The guys who run around being physical without fear are the kind of people you want. They can always just turtle when a dinosaur heavyweight challenges them.

Obviously the team got softer in theory.

Tambo and Co. have obviously made a decision to add toughness in the lineup through a different means than Hordichuck. Expect some sort of movement within the next 18 months while Tambo makes up his mind on what exactly that is.

That's just untrue. He did very little last season, and in what time he was given this year, he did absolutely nothing. He didn't give Kreuger any reason to give him more ice time. None.

@dawgbone98: I guess Smytty running around and taking stupid penalties made Hordichuk expendable. #VeteranMove

I don't see how Smyth's play has anything to do with Hordi being waived. Is this random guy on Twitter suggesting Hordi should have been getting Smyth-type minutes?

I have no problem with Hordichuk as a 13th forward. The problem is, when you are carrying 8 defensemen, you can only have 1 extra up front. And if you're only carrying 1 extra forward, it should probably be a center (or at least someone who is usefull with his gloves on).

Waiving Hordichuk is a good move. The next should be doing something with one of the 4 #6/7 defensemen they're carrying. This team couldn't make a useful roster addition if they wanted to because of the redundant extra bodies they have.

More fat needs to be trimmed from this roster yet.

Have to think that is coming in the next 10 days or so. Peckham will be back end of this week or early next week, at that point they probably give him a couple games and make a choice.

Good move today waiving hordichuk

Best of luck to Darcy Hordichuk he seems like a good guy just not the type of player we need.

They've been wasting draft picks on them for years. Unfortunately none of them ever fulfill the "can play" part beyond junior hockey.

But in those games how often did get regular shifts? His ass was stapled to the bench in pretty much all of them. The only game I can recall where he was played regularly was when he played Brad Staubitz like a fiddle.

Again, I think it's tough to do much when you get one shift in the first period, and then get stapled to the bench for the rest of the game. It takes more than one shift to get into a good rhythm.

I don't get comments like this. People have differing opinions, we aren't a collective hive mind. Some people wanted him gone, some people didn't.

Is Kassian from Minnesota the brother of the one in Vancouver or is there no relation?

Assuming no relation, or else the one from Minnesota probably wouldn't have threatened legal action over his nickname.
