Leland Irving

Mckenzie said kiprusoff is due back this week and McDonald is now slated to be his back up. Irving is the odd man out. I know he doesn't have much experience but he has alot of potential and has actually looked strong to start this season. He can definitely be an nhl backup and I believe could even step in and play and few games if the #1 went down (like kipper). What would be your guys best offer?

Something tells me you're not going to like the answers you get considering he just passed through waivers not too long ago.

I don't understand why you would trade him when he shows potential with an aging goalie and overall team

After the Canucks just lit him up for 5? and the fact that he recently cleared waivers?

No a whole lot.. i could part with a subway 5 dollar footlong?

In all seriousness tho, Calgary might be better to keep him in case McDonald doesn't quite pan out either

The goaltender that the rest of the league deemed less desirable than Karlsson, and the Flames think is worse than Detroits 3rd goalie?

A 5th/6th round pick at best.

Probably worth a 6th right now and with the right team and coaching that will increase accordingly.

He had one good season in the AHL before going all bust on the Flames or something. Add in that he has gotten almost zero playing time this year and what you see is a team that has no idea what it's doing. Yeah blame a goalie that has played what 10 games this year, not the top six of the Flames team that decided to completely **** the bed against Vancouver and definitely not their horrendously soft defense.

humm

I will be nice

he was on waivers and there were no takers--so that may have set his value there

The million dollar question.

Maybe people should start with the AHL coach who wouldn't play him when he needed the minutes in the A.

A 7th like Karlsson. This way, since he already cleared he can be sent down.

Irving is playing pretty good hockey right now. If not for him it could have easily been 10-0 the other night.

The Flames waived him earlier this year. No one bit. So his value is essentially less than nothing.

You guys can have your choice of:

To Oilers:
Leland Irving+7th round pick

To Flames:
nothing

or

To Oilers:
Leland Irving

To Flames:
Ryan Smyth or Ryan Whitney

Ok in a good situation he'd fetch a 7th rounder. Great return on that 1st round pick.

I think he would fetch more just pointing out how saying he had negative value is a stupid statement.

Nothing, We ride Kipper and anyone who isnt spectacular in net is automatically benched, sent down, or traded.

The Flames will be damned to ice a goaltender who needs more than 4 games to prove he can stay... its one or done apparently.

He was fantastic tonight.. He won't be going anywhere.. MacDonald was more than likely picked up to be Irving's backup while Kipper is out. Bobby Mac hasn't exactly been spot on about the Flames as of late so I take what he says about us with a grain of salt

I love Bobby Mac but his sources for the Western Canadian teams are... lacking to put it kindly.
