Fair enough. I don't find it that concerning but to each his own.

You are not familiar with our recent concussion history then.
Our 2011 1st rounder Joey Hishon who looked like a huge steal got his head scrambled to pieces by McNabb, we traded Wolski for nothing because of Mueller suffering a terrible concussion, Landeskog is out with one right now, Wilson suffered 2? or even more concussions in the last few years and it seriously derailed his development.
There are rumours that Stefan Elliott has one as well but there are conflicting reports about it. Siemens had a concussion and lost valuable development time last year.
That is just off the top of my head. There are probably a few more.
Avs need to stay away from guys with head injuries. We got enough of them.

Besides that I fully agree with the other Avs poster. I don't value Gardiner nearly as much as you do and would not like him straight up for ROR even if he was completely healthy and playing in the NHL right now.

Huge fan of Gardiner, but his concussion scares the living daylight out of me.

Okay, I suppose for Avs fans they would have to see more out of Gardiner to consider it and that's never going to happen during the contract dispute.

I don't see a trade to be made between them then. Rielly is an untouchable for the Leafs, guys like Kadri, Kessel, Phaneuf Lupul and JVR mean too much to the Leafs and aside I don't see Avs thinking highly of them either for some reason.

Any other pieces likely won't cut it. Darn.

I'm too lazy to check, but has anyone maybe thought about Anaheim either trading for or throwing an offer sheet Colorado's way for ROR?

Palmieri-Getzlaf-Perry
Ryan-O'Reilly-Selanne
Winnik-Koivu-Cogliano

I assume Bonino goes back to COL or someone else, unsure, but O'Reilly really completes that lineup.

Too bad that the defense does not match up with that lineup considering that Fowler is off to Colorado .

Bonino is in no way shape or form enough to be the centerpiece.
I agree that Anaheim and Colorado could make solid trade partners for ROR if it comes to that. It would cost you though. One of Sbisa or Lindholm and your 1st or Etem would certainly have to be involved as a starting point to get the Avs to listen... (probably will need another decent piece)
And the Getzlaf/Perry situation might be a major player in any trade talks. If they want to show them that they are commited to winning , they will probably have a higher interest in this happening and will pay more. If they can re-sign both, they might not be able to afford ROR on a longterm 4.X M contract.
Will be interesting how all those situations will play out.

Nothing really credible, but:

Nick Kypreos on Hockeycentral a few minutes ago:

"I'll be shocked if RoR ever plays for Colorado again"

Laich and Johansson?

Laich can play a similar role to O'Reilly to some extent or a 2nd line LW role, Johansson is a step below O'Reilly but still has pretty good potential/has had comparable statistical seasons. This also helps Colorado deal with Landeskog/Downie being out.

I doubt anything's going on with ROR being traded... I read somewhere that he hadn't been asked about salary demands for other teams. That's a pretty good indication nothing's on the horizon.

So, posing a question: Would Duck fans entertain something around Fowler for O'Reilly? Are they confident enough in Vatanen's abilities?

OR

would Colorado bite for Sbisa, Bonino, Holland, 1st in 2014?

I think Holland, Sbisa, 2nd would be fair value for O'Reilly if these two teams were to trade.

Fowler straight up seems pretty good value too.

Personally, I would do it Sbisa for O'Reilly strait up. Would add in one of our other defenders to get Holland. It's one of the more plausible trade possibilities.

Hell no to both of those. Fowler's absence has really crippled our defense. No way is he moved.

The 2nd one is way too much also. A young top 4 defenseman + a very solid 3rd line center+ arguably our best prospect + a 1st? Is this a real proposal?

Something around Sbisa+Holland seems fair IMO. I'd do that personally.

Dreger and McKenzie saying he's on the block now, to Eastern Conference teams. Avs are asking for a roster player and top prospect back.

I don't know what FO wants, but majority of Avs fans including me want a top #2-3 defense (NHL proven with potential).

Probably Gerbe + McNabb.

This feels so much like Drury 2.0 it is scary.

We will get fleeced beyond belief. Why to the East? It is not like we are contending soon. Just get the best return you can get.....
