I apologize as I did not realize people (other Leaf fans) have been trying to pawn off Mac or Gunner on you (St.Louis fans).

I wouldn't be adverse to dealing Dion if it meant we recieved a sizeable return.

Phanuef

for

Elliott + Stewart + Sobotka

I'll take Jake Allen. Keep Eliott!

I honestly have no clue what the deal can be... The Leafs have too many 2nd/3rd line forwards and too many bottom pairing D. We definitely wont be selling assets. The only thing i can think of would be a quanity for quality type deal but St. Louis has depth in almost all positions and likely doesnt need too.

So...

Lupul - Bozak - Kessel
Kulemin - Grabovski - MacArthur
Stewart - Kadri - Frattin
Komarov - McClemennt - Orr
McClaren - Sobotka - Brown

Holzer - Liles
Kostka - Franson
Fraser - Komisarek

Reimer
Elliot

Seems pretty spot on

Love what Stewart brings to the table but he is a lazy inconsistent ***. No thanks.

I actually am going on the toronto fan's side here, I actually am pretty interested in that deal. It's hard to lose that many players at once, yes. But I find it to be a nice starting point at least. Maybe we could work out a deal to give up some prospects instead of Stewart, but as a whole, I'm actually interested in this deal.

Kessel should be available to the highest bidder.

Toronto needs a PWF + a 1BGoalie + Picks are helpful

Yep. Kimzey is completely full of it if he turns down Stewart, Sobotka & LOL-iott for Phaneuf. I'd do that deal in a nano-second.

You're using franchise Dman extremely loose here.

As for the deal, Halak pulled his groin again in the warmups and who knows how long he is gone for. If St. Louis traded Elliott, they would have a tandem of Allen + I'm not sure, but Allen as a starter is a complete no go right now. Maybe if St. Louis can somehow get Bishop back, and you switched D'agostini for Sobotka it would be better.

Guys... Phaneuf is going nowhere. He's the #1 defenceman, on a team who's #2 is lacklustre, and is filled with 4/5 guys.

Toronto may be willing to move a defenceman, especially as they look to work Gardiner back into the lineup and with Gunnarsson presumably close to returning, but Phaneuf isn't that guy. Liles, Holzer, Fraser, or Franson would be a much more reasonable target.

Why would a team that just won it's 4th stright and moved into 4th in the east trade their captain? it's not Dion.

I'm going to guess Kuli or Macarthur

The Blues have too many wingers as it is.

McClement? The guy who we have given the A and have been using as a member of a shutdown line with Grabo and Kulemin? The guy Carlyle loves? I doubt it.

Most would likely feel that this signals a rebuild and admits to not making the playoffs but I see it otherwise. This trade would allow them to have a 2nd line of Kulemin-Grabo-Stewart to follow Lupul-Bozak-Kessel (once Lupul is back), which then gives them the option of dropping Mac to the 3rd line where he belongs or trading him to gain an asset near the deadline or otherwise.

Strategically done, trades like this can position teams in the near and distant future to still add the pieces necessary without throwing in the towel.
Who does Stewart knock out of our top 6? JVR? Kulemin? Then who do they knock out of our 3rd line Komarov? We have a glut of wingers right now if anything I would say we are shipping out a depth D man for a pick.

It's really hard to think up a hypothetical trade here...

Any player Toronto would want, the Blues need and vice-versa

I really feel that its a defenseman for Stewart, with Macarthur being shipped out for a pick shortly after.

we havent been misusing him and hes been awesome with us (proding his given role), I dont want to see him traded and he took a discount to play for his home team that wouldnt look good to future FA's

Tough to say which St Louis player Nonis is targeting. Need a centre, and we have an abundance of wingers/dmen. Maybe Mac for a pick?
