Aaron Portzline @Aportzline
#NHL scouts from: BOS, CAR, CHI 2, COL, DET, EDM, MINN, MON, NASH, NJ, NYR, OTT, PHIL 2, PITT, TB, VAN, WPG ... total of 19 in Nationwide.
San Jose @ Columbus.
Shot in the dark. Who do you think we have our eye on?
Umberger, Brassard, or Anisimov. I dont see San Jose making the kind of move we are looking for.

True, and the fact that San Jose is a good team in the west some of those east times will want reports on them incase they make the finals. But the fact of the matter is with no east vs west play this season every east scout at a west game or west scout at an east game is going to get rumor talkers talking.
One of the online reports said that either Iginla or Corey Perry would be the best fit for us. Hmnmmmm......
I don't know if I would mess up the team chemistry right now for a rental player. You got to figure that it would take something along the lines of Tedenby, Tallinder, Urbom & a high draft pick to even be considered for either of them.
Clowe would be a GREAT pick up. He is a useful player in the playoffs especially because of his physicality. He's what I hope Matteau can become.
In 2011 when the nucks played the sharks, he was pretty invisible. If Devils got him cheap it would be awesome but.. hes not a player that the devils should overpay for.

Iginla is DONE. He looks TRBL. He can barley even skate, hes so slow and overall looks like ****. Hes still ok with the puck but everything else about his game as really went down the *******

It wouldn't surprise me if they're not really zeroing in on specific players. I mean, there may be a few "notables" for them going in. But I think with the fact the Devils are only playing Eastern Conference teams this year, it wouldn't surprise me if this is mostly just to get a better eye on what's out there, as opposed to checking out specific targets that they've thought about.

I can see a Matt Calvert for 4th round pick after this game lol
Seriously hope our Devils scout is looking at Brassard though
I think Umberger would be a great pickup. That contract isn't great but he'd be a fantastic 2nd/3rd line TWF here. His problem right now is that SOMEONE on Columbus has to play against top defensive pairings, and it's usually his line, which is simply not his game. He's not a game-breaking forward.

I'd like Umberger or Brassard. Even Dubi but can't really see us getting a former Rag at this point (or Columbus moving him for that matter).
Problem is what would Columbus want? Boucher and a pick? You have to figure they would want future assets and they already have some decent defensive prospects. Definitely wouldnt want Tallinder.
Coleman, Burlon and a 3rd for Umberger/Brassard.....

That being said, I think there's better options.
Out of these guys, who is the preference? I think they would all fit the bill....
Raymond
Umberger
Brassard
Kulemin
MacArthur
MacArthur would probably be the cheapest of them all....if Leafs stay in playoff contention (which I think they will), I can see MacArthur and 5th for Tallinder and 4th....
I'd give up Tedenby and our 2nd for LA's 1st rounder that Columbus has (they already have their own 1st and the NYR first as well so they can afford to trade one)..
Then, we can trade Tallinder to a bubble team for a 2nd rounder (Detroit?)..
If we make the ECF of better and are picking 27th-30th, you forfeit this years pick, still have a first rounder that 's better than the one you would have had and still have a 1st rounder next year. The cost, a depth d-man that is an upcoming UFA and an undersized prospect that has potential but hasn't really put it together despite 80+ NHL games and who could toil in the AHL for his career.

I think Tallinder fetches us a 3rd rounder at best if its just for a pick....

I would say Kulemin would be #1. THe rest of the order i am not sure about. I like Umberger and think he would really work well with Zajac and Kovy but i am not a fan of his contract so the Jackets would have to sell him really cheap or take a part of that contract going forward.

NO WAY the Jackets give up a first for Tedenby and a 2nd. They are re-building depending on where those picks fall they could go a very long way toward re-building with just those 3 picks.

Isn't this the scouting report at the beginning of every season, though?
Terrible starts, skating through mud, can't generate anything offensively.
Then, all of a sudden it's like he dove headfirst into the fountain of youth and is doing it all again?
Out of all the 30 NHL teams, I probably haved watched the Flames the least this season... so you might have a better idea than I.
