The Out of Town Thread part XLIX All talk from around the league here

I understand that there's a difference between wishing injury on a player and a 'karma is a *****' type post, but understand that while the latter may not necessarily be breaking any rules here, it does invite trolls into our board to cause **** that only gives us mods more headaches.

Give us a break. We're underpaid, underfed and understaffed.

Fair enough. But at least you're not playing with Bourque.

This is truly an unfortunate typo.

Have to admit, Kadri is doing well for Toronto. Nice to see after the few years he spent being absolutely wrecked by the Toronto Star.

**** the code.

I'm sick to see our players always needing to fight bigger players because we are too respectful.

I want Prust to go after Kessel, Moen after Grabovski, Bouillon after Kadri...

WTF is going on with the Blues? In February:

L 5-3
L 6-1
L 5-1
OTL - 6-5

And they're losing 4-1 to the Kings tonight. 26 GA in 5 games is pretty staggering, for such a notoriously defensive team.

And just as a comparison to Galchenyuk's "cold" stretch as of late, Tarasenko has no points and is a -7 in his last four games including tonight.

Nah, Simmons is employed by the Sun, the same newspaper who made the front page of their sports section a picture of Kadri with a pacifier in his mouth, after he failed to crack the squad in 2010 (yes, a year after he was drafted). I'm sure you guys can relate to idiots in the media like that.

Sun was what I was referring to, not the Star. Sun/Star, same BS.

Toronto won another game with two guys in their line up that should had get suspended: Grabovski and Orr.

Grabovski shouldn't have been suspended and you can't suspend Orr for a 'what if he hit plekanec' move.

It is what it is.

I don't see why they couldn't suspend Orr. Seriously the league is dumb for not looking at this kind of stuff. Goon runs a smaller player and almost takes out his knee. All they're doing is delaying the inevitable. There shouldn't have to be a busted knee for the league to do something about it.

You're right though, the league doesn't get involved unless somebody gets hurt. It is what it is.

Be it as it may, he never connected. It's not easy to do the job, imagine if we gotta consider what ifs.

Let's move on. It's done and that's all there is to it.

I won't lose any sleep over it. I just think the league should do things differently that's all.

It's tough. I believe they have a staff watching every single game. So, they see these things and decided not to go with suspension.

I obviously understand what you're saying but unless you got a detailed fool proof plan, it's really harder than it looks.

I didn't say it was easy. Just because something isn't easy though doesn't mean the league shouldn't look into it. I didn't like that play at all. Worse than the biting incident actually.

Backes absolutely ripped into the team after tonight's game:

Lou Korac ‏@lkorac10
David Backes: "We just don't have that desperation, that accountability, that responsibility to each other." #stlblues

Lou Korac ‏@lkorac10
Backes: "We've got too many guys out there looking at the stat sheet wondering how many goals & assists, cookies they've got rather (1/2)

Lou Korac ‏@lkorac10
Backes: (2/2) "... than taking a hit to make a play and getting run over so we can get a puck out so that your teammates can have a 3-on-2."

Lou Korac ‏@lkorac10
Backes: "It's time to put the boots on and go do it or else pack your bags and go home because it's slowly slipping." #stlblues

Seems like a team that was scoring a ton of goals early on and many on that team thought they were suddenly an offensive machine that could win purely with offence. Now they seem to have forgotten the structure and defensive fundamentals that were so brilliant for them last season.

Interesting post. Looking around the league, including the Habs, you seem to see more streaky play by individuals and by teams. One thing about lock-out seasons is that they are way more unpredictable.

Fewer games; more excitement and uncertainty.
