Cautiously optimistic, but I won't be truly optimistic until he's been fully checked out, and it's very clear that there's nothing serious. At the moment even Carlyle is just speculating.

i am worried, i am pretty sure when he stood up and tried to put weight on it, it bent inward....

That would mean ligament damage and that would be very bad news...

IMO its a knee thing, ligament, knee cap dislocation... something like that..

Did anyone else notice that when he stood up??

You are aware that it takes months to wait for an MRI. You can't just 'take your GF to get an MRI' in the middle of the night unless the doctors think she has something that is urgently life-threatening

I have never heard of someone being scheduled for an MRI at like 10-12 pm on a weeknight

yeah, we were laughing about that tonight, actually.

her doctor told her she needed an MRI and she got one scheduled in just two weeks. (he didn't "just take her" tonight, he "took her to her scheduled appointment" tonight).

these stories of long waiting times seem to be a myth.

Fair enough it just seems like it is a BS story. Did he mention what time it was at... as in could that MRI have been what led the leafs coaches to think it was not serious?

he was never NOT going to get an MRI, I don't think. You hurt yourself like that and you're going for an MRI no matter what, even if it's just precautionary.

He arrived there around 10:30, after Carlyle's comments. I think the training staff probably told Carlyle that it wasn't a groin-type injury (hence carlyle's "not lingering" comments), and hopefully they told him that while it was a knee injury, they didn't think it was a major knee injury at first glance.

that's what I'm assuming for now.

and I mean, Reims was walking on his own two feet in there, so that's likely good news, even if he was limping badly and all pissed off about it.

hopefully it's just a sprained ligament in his knee, and nothing is torn.

MRI times are scheduled around the clock for exactly that reason.

Yeah I'm calling BS. No offence to you zeke. But its just too fishy of a story. Like thats pretty quick for Riemer to walk in for an MRI within an hour or 2. Emergency waiting lists take forever.

MRI magnet often run 24/7. Maintenance on Telsa level magnets costs millions, thus they need to be producing images to bring in money to offset their cost to the hospital doesn't drown in useless upkeep costs. You haven't heard of someone being scheduled, but as a physician myself, I could get one tonight at 1am if I wanted to. Also, professional athletes and VIPs can get them done over night to avoid the traffic and attention. And often low priority imaging (ie. musculoskeletal shoulder and knee MRIs get done overnight if you want to get the imaging done faster).

I'm not offended, and it's not BS.

Pro athletes don't wait for MRIs. They get them right away.

Why would folks accuse Zeke, a poster with 21k posts, of lying over something trivial like this? That's just silly.

So he had an MRI and was limping, but walking on his own. I'm not an expert, but that doesn't sound that bad to me.

All professional teams have VIP access to designated hospitals in Downtown Toronto. For instance, musculoskeletal imaging for high end athletes can be done 24/7. But Reimer has access to MRI as quickly as he can get to the orthopaedic sports imaging center in DT Toronto (Mount Sinai Hospital).

He obviously doesn't fall into the regular ER queue.

As an orthopaedic surgeon who has worked in hospitals in Toronto, I can confirm this statement.
