LF - Joe Medwick

* 10x All-Star
* 7x Top-5 in Batting Average
* 3x Top-5 in Homeruns
* 8x Top-5 in RBI's
Love Medwick. Under talked about Cardinal.

* 161-32, 0.889 WHIP
I was seriously hoping I could pull a Pavel Bure and get him late in the draft. Well done.

The New York Giants select SS George Davis.

  • 1998 Hall of Fame Inductee
  • 1906 World Series Champion (Chicago White Sox)
  • Career 121 OPS+ - 5th among Hall of Fame SS
  • 619 career stolen bases - 17th all-time, 3rd among SS
  • 1,440 career RBIs - 5th among SS
  • 163 career triples - 3rd among SS
  • 453 doubles - 10th among SS
  • Career 80.2 WAR - 33rd all-time among position players
  • Career 24.1 Defensive WAR - 19th all-time

I feel that Davis is one of the more underrated shortstops of all-time. Partly because of the era he played in, partly because he shared many of his prime years with Honus Wagner. Regardless, Davis was a well-rounded, consistent player for 20 seasons. Davis led the league 4 years in Range Factor at SS, and his 5.85 career Range Factor ranks 4th all-time among SS. He ranks 4th all-time among shortstops in the JAWS rankings and is one of the best switch hitters of all time.

Not sure there has been a draft where I haven't had Hilton.

I love the Davis pick. One of the guys I was looking at for my next pick. Criminally underrated.

I was looking at the draft and saw there were two people who still needed a 2nd baseman who were in front of me. There are only two viable 2nd basemen left in the draft from my perspective, and I thought I was going to miss out on both. Fortunately I missed out on neither.

The Cleveland Indians are ecstatic to select...

Second Baseman Bobby Grich

4 time gold glove winner
9th all time in career runs saved as 2nd baseman
8th among 2nd basemen in JAWS
67.7 career WAR
1981 AL HR leader
125 career OPS+

I consider myself lucky to get Grich at this point. Easily one of the more underrated players in history. I should also add that not only should Grich be in the hall of fame, so should his mustache.

Grich is a good choice.

There's more than two viable ones though in my opinion. With a larger amount of teams, more second basemen become viable.

I meant in terms of where the next drop off comes in. If I missed out out on both of the guys I had in mind, drafting a 2nd baseman becomes a poor decision for quite some time.

Vlad was one of my favorites. Guy never saw a pitch he couldn't crush.

Looking to move up. Let me know. Willing to include any of my 1-2 hitters in the deal if it makes sense.

Newark selects SP Don Sutton

324 Wins
3.26 ERA
3574 K
4x All-Star
Elected to Hall of Fame in 1998

Sutton's a guy who I think is generally a bit overrated, but he's very good value at this stage in the draft.

The Pittsburgh Crawfords are pleased to select HOF OF - Al Simmons. Simmons career has been undervalued IMO. A tremendous offensive and defensive player both in the regular and postseasons, he'll slot nicely into the middle of the Crawfords order.

- BBHOF (1953)
- 2 Time World Series Champion
- Career .329 average in postseason play
- 4 Times Top 5 in MVP voting
- 3 Times Top 5 in Overall WAR (inc. pitchers)
- 8 Times Top 5 in Batting Average (Led League 2 Times)
- 5 Times Top 5 in OPS
- Led League in Fielding % 7 Times
- Led League in Range Factor 2 Times
- Ranked 7th best LF ever by Bill James

People view him as so overrated, he's now underrated. Good pick. Best pitcher available, imo. He had some really nice seasons. And staying healthy is a skill.

The Brooklyn Superbas select 1B Mark McGwire.

Well, if Bonds and Clemens are top 10 picks (not comparing abilities, just that people aren't discounting players because of steroids), then surely McGwire is worthy of an eighth round pick.

We all know McGwire's problems...roids and injuries, but would you rather talk about those...or see him sock a few dingers???

583 HR
.263 BA
.394 OBP
.982 OPS
163 OPS+
1,414 RBI
12 SB
5 Home Run titles
1990 Gold Glove
12 X All Star

McGwire holds the record for best AB/HR ratio of 10.6, easily beating both Ruth and Bonds.

Essentially, McGwire is pretty much Killebrew with a better peak but shorter career.

He was the other 2nd baseman I was thinking along with Grich.

No one denies Kent's offensive prowess. On balance of probabilities he's probably one of the top three offensive second basemen of all-time. It will be interesting to see how much people punish his defence though.
