No. Boston's team had way more coming in through the pipelines and more depth with way better goaltending. Their Number 1 D won the norris that year. Toronto doesn't have that.

Now i'm not gonna bash toronto saying their a bad team...but they aren't the boston bruins of a few seasons ago.

Maybe the leafs are like the bruins of 2009 without chara and thomas. Sure.

1. Boston
2. Whoever's hot that week

It's really not a very strong division

Toronto under the condition that we're evaluating Ottawa based on the fact that they won't have Spezza for weeks (months?).

I think people really need to watch a few games of this Leafs team to see the positive impact Carlyle has had. Coming into the season I thought if the Leafs had good goaltending they could sneak into a low seed, but I also thought that they could potentially be bottom feeders. Right now I find it very hard to believe that the Leafs will be picking top 5. So they better make the playoffs, because picking 11th-16th would really suck.

Going into the season I would've agreed with you... But you can't ignore the results this season, we're a quarter into the season and the Northeast has easily been the best division in the East.

Reimer's injury isn't major.

These are each NE team's PDO and Fenwick ranking:

Buffalo: 1003 (28th)
Montreal: 1004 (9th)
Ottawa: 1020 (4th)
Toronto: 1031 (26th)

Buffalo is more or less the team it's going to be for the rest of the season. Sorry, Sabres fans.

Montreal's a solid team who should make the playoffs. Their weaknesses last season were vastly overstated and they got terrible luck. This season looks good for them.

Ottawa's gotten a bit of luck to start, but are regardless a dominant puck possession team that is probably the second-best team after Boston, even without Spezza.

Toronto has been very lucky to start. They are not a good team and have a long way to fall.

Hahaha, no bias was found in those post at all

Teams Ottawa beat this year:

Winnipeg (10th), Florida x 2 (13th), Washington (15th), Montreal (7th), Buffalo (12th).

Seems to me like they've had a pretty easy schedule. They lost their games against the teams who are doing well.

I think we will see Ottawa drop off in the next two weeks as they play Pittsburgh, NJ, NYR, Boston and yes, the Leafs twice.

Because the leafs sched has been so much tougher?
MTLx2(7th), PIT (5th), Buf (12th), Wsh x2 (15th), Wpg (10th), Phi (11th)

Now lets look at who they lost to:
Ott:
Carolina x2 (3rd), Pens (5th), MON (7th), TBAY(9th), Wpg (10th)

TOR:
BOS (2nd), Car (3rd), NYR (8th), Buf (12th), NYI (14th),

Doesn't look too different to me.

Assuming everyone's healthy on every team in the division, I put Ottawa in 2nd after the Bruins.

Bruins
Sens (Has the solid starter, #1D, #1C all locked up)
Habs (Has solid starter, #1D + Subban...)
Buffalo (In theory, they're solid but "in theory" is the same as "in practice"... in theory)
Leafs (Outside of Kessel/Lupul, who is still relatively unproven, they're either too bad or too green)

Yeah, it's a battle of consistency for the #2 spot, and the Sens seem to be the most consistent so them. Also have the most talent.

Have a bona-fide #1G who's proven himself, and their #1D isn't that bad either... Also have a very proven #1C, neither of the other 3 have that.

Ottawa, with Spezza.

Without Spezza... dare I say... gulp... the Leafs?

In all seriousness, I think it's too close to call between the other three. And without Spezza, could be close between all 4.

Don't be sorry we're awful, I am excited to pick Mackinnon or Jones in the summer.

I'd also say that Toronto is the flavor of the week. They'll slump, than Montreal and Ottawa will create the gap.

I think we will be better towards the end of the year when our kids grow a little,we are just too young to much of a threat this season

You call that drivel, and then say the only reason the Leafs will crash is that it's happened before? That's fantastic.
