On a more serious note, I'd be open to bringing in Brassard, depending on the price. He would likely cost a good asset or two, but if he can play wing in addition to centre (based on what I've read around here) that makes him all the more attractive in my opinion. He could fill in the 2C role while Spezza is out then slide over to the left of Turris when Spezza comes back.
With all the talk regarding Ottawa not being tough enough Brassard would be seen as another softie on this team. While he could use a change would he really be an upgrade on what we have? I see him more as another potential disappointment like Latendresse. Weiss at least has a good record to compare & is considered a tough player to play against & he could fit in on any line.

My guess is Tim Erixon or Cody Goloubef, wasn't Ottawa chasing Erixon when he refused to go to Calgary?

But, to my knowledge, Methot has been 6'3" and 230 lbs for some time now. He has an extensive body of work as a defensive defenseman. There was very little question that he was at least a top-4 defender and possibly top-2. He was and is in the prime of his career.

All I was saying is that Scandella looks like a guy who may not even crack our top-6 let alone have some automatic reservation in our top-4. So, in that case, what's the point? We already have plenty of left-shooting 6th/7th/8th d-men in the system. If we can get the kid for a song then no problem. But if we have to give up something significant for him then again I ask what's the point? I think in the very least it's safe to say he isn't a Cowen replacement. If he was he'd be a regular in Minny's lineup let alone ours.
I'm talking about all the Methot haters...

"he's a bottom pairing dman on a crap team, no way could he be any good other here"

"He won't stand a chance next to EK"

"He'll probably lose us more games"

"I'd rather have Foligno"

Etc etc etc

Look at the thread(s) when we acquired him, so many people crapped on him...

I think Corey Perry is the guy Murray is really going to go hard after. i would do the standard package of a top 6 + prospect + draft pick for Perry.

Left wingers seems to be redundant per Jacket fans on the trade board. They seem to be more interested in right wingers.

What the flip?

Wasn't your avatar a Ducks-related avatar just like 20 seconds ago? And now it's a Sens one? What sort of magic is this?

Where's my tinfoil hat?

Would Michalek, Stone and 1st round pick be enough?

Your right, and your point is???

The people that knocked Methot weren't haters, just ill-informed or poor judges of talent.

I would love to see Perry in Ottawa, but I wouldn't be including a top six plus plus to get him.

Ottawa needs to add a top six, not swap them even as an upgrade.

If Perry isn't signed by the Ducks it will be for financial reasons alone, so they would be looking for young up and coming talent at a reasonable cost just like Ottawa.

So I doubt a 28-29 year old and soon to be UFA would be of interest to the Ducks.

I'd do that if we could sign Perry to an extension

Ottawa has been after Erixon and Brassard.

These are two areas we need help with.

I said on the main board I would do a trade for both these two.

The 1st round pick is probably the only attractive asset in that package from a Columbus POV. Bishop isn't really an upgrade over what they currently have (Bob, Mason, and tons of depth in the system), and they also have an abundance of LW's.

Goloubef is another guy on their roster I'd love to bring in.

Why do we need another puck moving d man? We already have Karlsson, Gonchar, Wiercioch and Benoit.

I thought Erixon projected more as a 2 way dman. That, and Gonchar is gone after this year, and Benoit is more of a stop gap.
