Bourn an Indian for 4/$48M.

Dumb move by Cleveland, IMO.

They have Stubbs on the bench now since you can't bench Brantley.

Ouch...

Quote:
Michael Sanserino of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports that Liriano broke his arm on Christmas Day when he slammed it against a door "trying to startle his kids."

Here's what's even more painful about Liriano's broken arm: It could potentially cost him $11.75 million. Yes, million. This is a moment when "ouch" isn't even close to being a strong enough word. The others, we probably couldn't print on this blog.

I swear, if I were a professional athlete, I'd spend my offseason in bubble wrap.

The worst part for Liriano is that he had his deal right there, just needed to wrap it up and sign it. What an idiot.

Oh, anybody else going to the college hockey doubleheader at Soldier Field on Sunday? Bought tickets the moment they became available. Can't wait.

I am thinking about going, NFS, but I don't know if it is worth missing a Hawks game for.

The Braves had a screaming indian featured on their spring training cap. I read it in an article by Paul Lukas where the caps were unveiled about 2-3 weeks ago. Well, he gave it an F and basically called it racist and now the Braves are changing hat to their regular "A". How long before the Blackhawks have to change their name? It's ignorant racists like Paul Lukas seeing something that was never there to begin with that are the problem with our society. Most of what I have read and seen on tv from native americans on the subject of sports teams is that they are either proud or don't care either way.

The Indians and Redskins should be the only things Native Americans or racism haters should complain about. The Cleveland logo is a drunk, red indian and the Washinton one is rather obvious. Why the Sioux, Illini, etc. have had to make name and/or logo changes is beyond absurd.

LOL, you've got to love the sarcasm from Schuerholz:

"I like the selection we made this year," Braves president John Schuerholz said. "We had a variety of choices that we looked at, some more thoroughly than others. But at the end, we liked this one. The fact that one person somewhere offered his personal opinion about one of our options, that was important to him.

"When we made our decisions, we tried to contemplate. We tried to be creative. We tried to carry on the theme of our organization, and we think this script A does that. It is part of the continuum of the uniform look we have. We've never had one that looks like this during Spring Training."

Oh please, the Braves old 'Chief Nocahoma' logo is a terrible depiction of humans, let alone natives.

They've had that logo for at least a few years now, but don't think the team has ever actually used it in any capacity.

And agreed. There's a huge difference between the Hawks and Illini and even the Skins logos then the cartoony nonsense that was the Indians logo.

And let's not even pretend that the screaming Indian logo was good looking, either.

We've been down this path before. American Indians don't seem to care about the Hawks indianhead, because it depicts a proud Indian. Most other sports logos are not as well done.

Yeah, was just reading up on that. Didn't realized they permanently used it for that long. They also had a guy from a real tribe who would "live" in a teepee in the stands and come out to dance when the Braves his a home run.

I've just recently been seeing it down here on shirts and hats, on a somewhat regular basis.

Yeah, I read that the Braves were in 1st in 82 and they got rid of the teepee so they could sell more seats (must have been a way different time in Atlanta, lol), and then they lost 19 of 21, put the teepee back and went back to 1st.

Just looked at the Mets depth chart.

That is one terrible team on paper. I feel bad for David Wright.

That's the main reason why I was more surprised at other people being surprised that Bourn chose to go to Cleveland over the Mets.

I'd still choose the Mets over them, just so I don't have to live in or near Cleveland. I hate that state with a passion.

But in comparing teams... you're right. I didn't realize who bad they are. I don't think they're really that great prospect wise either, but could be wrong their. I haven't even heard of 2 of their outfielders, and the 3rd one is Lucas Dude.

Oh, and in other sports news, the IOC has decided to drop wrestling from the Olympics, meaning that, for at least one day, people are pretending like they cared about Olympic wrestling.
