I don't know if Minnesota will be making any trades like this in the near future but from what I've seen so far it looks like the Wild have too many playmakers/setup guys and could use more of a pure shooter/goal scorer.
Pretty much nobody is offlimits save for Koivu, Parise, Suter, Brodin and probably Granlund but I think even those young rookies could be had for the right price.
Any teams out there in need of another setup guy or two? We sure have a lot of passers
Sadly the players Minnesota would have available for a trade are the exact players they would want via trade, but they are woefully underperforming. So you'd have to give up huge prospect/pick packages, which would just undo all the work Fletcher has done the last few years.
Setoguchi might get moved for another tweener type or meh prospect and/or mid-pick...PMB will probably play out his deal...Heatley will probably be bought out.
Gionta + 3rd in 2013 for Stoner, Clutterbuck and a 2nd in 2013? I am a little unsure about the salary movement in regards to Minnesota, though. A healthy Gionta can get 25-30 goals with the average line mates he had in Montreal. Put him with some of the playmakers in Minny and he should do well.
I am not really happy with the idea of trading Gionta, but we need the size and grit enough to consider this.
