“Fans have their opinions,’’ Parise said. “What was most important to me is they were great to me when I was there. They were awesome. I understand they’re upset. I loved every minute of it. If I get booed when I get back there, I’ll deal with it.

NHL Tonight showed a crazy stat. John Tavares has been on the ice for Matt Moulson's last 65 goals. (November 2010)

That contract still blows my mind. I don't see how anyone, even under the best of circumstances, could live up to it. There's a good chance things will end ugly in "the land of 10,000 lakes."

I always said Zach was overrated on here. He was not a gamebreaker for us (especially in the playoffs) and I felt we could have spent the money better elsewhere.

I feel that Parise was a necessary loss, this team is going to be better for it.

Sooooo we did have a competitive offer

He's not going to say we weren't in the ballpark and he took the deal for monetary reasons. My take was that our annual cap hit may have been close but I don't know if we were close in years or in the same hemisphere as the frontloaded nature of the one he signed.

And the Devils are still winning.

“That team, with that coach [Peter DeBoer] and how [general manager] Lou [Lamoriello] puts together a team, they’ll always have a chance,’’ Parise said. “People come and go and they’re always in the mix and play the right way, play together.’’
That's right. People, like yourself, come and go and we still win. Enjoy the Wild Zach

No he won't. He's signed there for his career. Though it wouldn't surprise me to see him bought out at some point. He definitely won't be bought out anywhere near now though. Maybe in 8-10 years.

That was a hysterical interview.

So basically:
1) Parise knows he abandoned us and isn't looking forward to owning up
2) Parise picked a team that 'is getting there' over one that 'will always be competitive'

Enjoy Minnesota.

Seriously, I hope he does really well there. Nothing would make this sweeter than Parise putting up 50 goal seasons and the Wild still failing to make the playoffs. Just so he can sit there at night in his bed and realize that he's wasting his prime production playing for a team that sucks. Meanwhile, his old comrades in Newark are playing and will always be playing like he never existed.

Agreed. I hope Zach has career years, only to be wasted by his team

For now, I'll be content with looking at the box scores and seeing Parise score (like he has been) and the team continue to lose.

That and using Parise's money to sign Getzlaf or Perry

Think Davidson gets the job?

As much as I'd like to dump on Parise - I think his"getting there" comment was taken out of context...in no small art due to how poorly the article was slapped togther. A#1 editing by the Post.

Quote:
The following away from the rink is different,’’ Parise said. “It was good in Jersey. Just the atmosphere here, outdoor rinks everywhere, youth and high-school hockey is so popular. They love it here. It’s what you grow up with. I think it’s getting there in Jersey. From the time I started there to the time I finished, you can tell there’s momentum for the team.’’
It sounds to me like he's talking about the atmosphere for the game of hockey in New Jersey in general, not the state of the Devils.
