Even Yandle is on the trading block. Ownership saga has lead Phoenx to situation that they need to off load long term contracts. Probably NHL has no other option but to spend to the salary floor and get as many picks and prospects as possible. Then the relocation takes place much easier and much higher relocation fee.

May be we should go after Yandle. We can put swedes and picks together with a defenseman and he will be here.

Of course we can look elsewhere. Colorado has impasse with O'Reilly. We can put package together and trying to snatch him out Colorado

Sam Gagner will want a raise that's why he signed for 1 year and so far this year (and some of last year) he has shown Eberle stats so maybe a big raise. For naysayers who think it is luck his luck seems to just keep going and going and going like the bunny. Tamellini will let him leave.

Devon Dubnyk will want a raise that's why he signed for 1 year and he is looking darn good so far this year so should get a raise.

What advantage is Clowe over Hemsky? Hemsky has finally got good joints and is ready to rumble and obviously wants to be here.

Get rid of non producers keep the producers is a no brainer.

Trade Eberle for a top centre if available. Should get someone decent for him. Everyone knows his potential.

Get rid of Lowe and promote Horcoff to the Über GM spot. Promote Lowe to stay at home GM (he is a lifetimer). Can Tambellini for obvious reasons.

I think we need to pay 4,5-5M to Gagner. Tambo sill do it and I am fine with that.

Whitney and Smyth seem to be housecleaned

Hordichuck is done with the club. Whitney is almost demanding trade because he will be healthy scratch tonight. Smyth will join him to eat pop corn too.

2013 seems to me

Smyth and Horcoff will be bought out
Whitney and Hordichuck will become UFAs since their contracts will not be renewed

Rest of the season will show what happens to Jones and Petrell. If Jones asks 2M+ he will also get ticket out of the town

We need effective role players, unfortunately, Tambellini hasn't shown any ability of filling voids, so I don't see any changes forthcoming.

This is exactly what seems to be problem. I looked at team by team statistics and recognized that our top3 players in scoring is not comparable to top teams. The time will take care of that very soon. Our top7 scoring players are doing pretty well collectively.

We need to assess a few things otherwise we will see team diving to bottom 8 maybe even bottom 5 in standings. I so not want suck this year I want to see meaningful games in April even we are still rebuilding.

1. We need 3rd line not two 4th lines. Pääjärvi and Hartikainen can rotate in the third line at his point of their development. Maybe Jones can fill the void or his contract will not be renewed. So Tambo needs to bring here 3rd line center

2. We need to be harder to play against. We need one top6 power forward

3. We need touch guy who can play regular shift

two of these 3 needs to be assessed if we want to see meaningful games in April. All of them needs to be assessed before next season or it is one more season in rebuilding mode.

MacCleaner is back

He used to be a MacSplender. He does not need to be any more Mr. Spleder he will clean the house. Unfortunately we have so many bad contracts that house cleaning takes also next season if he can't trade some contracts. He should clean also minor league system and should not bring back guys like Plante, VandeVelde and Tanner House, Tyrväinen.

I would not renew following contracts
Jones
Petrell
Smithson
Hordichuck
Whitney
VandeVelde
Peckham
Fistrick
Khabibulin

and I would use amnesty buy out to Smyth

That is all together 10 nhlers and some AHLers

We need to keep Horcoff next season but it is possble to use amnesty buy out also 2014 off season. But we still have some bad contracts If Mac can trade them away during the off season he is the man. But it sees to me that Rebuilding year 4 will be needed before real succes.

Eager
Potter
Hemsky
Belanger
Nick Schultz??
and some minor leaguers. I think that 50 % of our 50 men list will not be and should not be with Oiler organization prior to starting of season 2014.

I am considering the following players as a transitional players and I hope they will not be back after 2013-14 season.

1. Smyth
2. Petrell
3. Belanger
and maybe Jones and Fistrick too. I really want to see how they can contribute

We need replacements
1. We need to acquire high draft pick again. Barkov is exactly what we need. He can replace Horcoff immediatelly
2. Se need to have bona fide number2 dman to play with J.Schultz.
I want Smyth gone....

Spend too much playing NHL 13 is my guess.

Smyth

Smyth has been basically loyal Oiler. Most of the fans are seeing him in these days as a non factor who just taking a nice piece of cake called cap space. Half of my heart leaned to give him nest year as a tribute of loyalty. Half of my heart saying that we always had touch contract negotiations and he never gave home town discount.

So amnesty buy out during the off season 2013 is both fair and best for the team

I don't know. We seem to draft first overall every year just like when I'm playing NHL 13

I read article above

http://blogs.edmontonjournal.com/201...ional-players/

General statement is that we are one of the worst teams in NHL for a reason. Reason si that our players are not good enough. According to article following players are reason for that and IMO they should be moved.

Defencemen Ryan Whitney, Mark Fistric and Theo Peckham, wingers Mike Brown, Ryan Jones, Lennart Petrell, Ryan Smyth, Ben Eager and centres Eric Belanger and Jerred Smithson

All together 10 guys. Our minor league system cannot replace them. We will see Paajarvi and Hartikainen in NHL Teubert is not upgrade and it wise to keep Lander one more year in minors. Omark is playing well in Europe but he is probably primadoona type of locker room cancer.

Ii is a lot of work to do for McCleaner. I hope he can take care of the mosto of the business during the off season but I know that cleaning goes beoyon next season. There is not such a miracle maker who can clean this ****

One thing what we should consider is sending players out with picks and get back minor leaguers.

The first thing we need to do is trade Gagner and get some size down the middle. Secondly, we need a D who can make an outlet pass by trading N Schultz+
