JVR (L) - Frattin (R)
Mac (L) - Kuly (L)
Koma (L) - Orr (R)

Phaneuf (L) - Kostka (R)
Liles (L) - Holzer (R)
Gunnar (L) - Franson (R)
Fraser (L) - Komi (R)

makes me think that unless Gardiner makes it impossible to keep him down, he's going to have a hard time cracking the squad any time soon.

This also makes me think that with lefties Gards and Rielly in the system, Liles and Gunnar are getting closer and closer to trade bait.....something I never would have wanted before, but with the quality play of Kostka, Holzer, Franson, and Fraser, and with Gardiner and Rielly coming up soon, is starting to make more sense.
Thanks for this!

call me crazy but try JVR at centre again, but then theres another problem with bozak whos been great at faceoffs. I'd rather screw bozak over than lupul. Just imagine is this worked out the line would be lupul JVR kessel!

I thought it was because he thrived on the left side in Toronto, and never got the chance to in Anaheim, that it was seen as an "issue" when Randy was hired.

lupul bozak kessel
mac grabo kulemin
jvr kadri frattin
komarov mcclement brown
orr
mclaren

spreads out the depth a bit more, plus komarov can be subbed in anywhere it seems when injuries arise, and while im not crazy about it, mac may be on his way out, which could mean

jvr grabo kulemin
komarov kadri frattin
orr mcclement brown
mclaren
hamilton

It's hard to argue with:

Lupul - Bozak - Kessel
JVR - Kadri - Frattin
MacArthur - Grabovski - Kulemin
Komarov/MacIntyre - McClement - Brown/Orr

We're gonna have to use one at least on Komi. Other than that, any other contract we might want to move will be tradeable IMO.

I wonder if they can amnesty Tucker or Armstrong's last year of buyout caphit, maybe.
There is a period after this season and after next season to use compliance buy outs.

If the Grabovski line gets pushed down to the "3rd line" (shutdown line) and their minutes reflect a demotion, I'd rather roll with:

Lupul - XXXX - Kessel
JVR - Kadri - Frattin
Komarov - Bozak - Kulemin
Macintyre/Orr - McClement - Brown/Hamilton

Trade Grabovski + MacArthur + if we can find a #1C that's on the trading block.

JVR-Bozak-Kessel
Kulimen-Grabo-Komorov
Lups-Kadri-Frattin
Mclaren-Mcclement-Orr

13th F - Brown

Phanuf-Gardiner
Kostka-Gunnerson
Liles-Fraser

7th D - Franson

There will always be injuries so im sure the lineups will never be perfect, but if everyone was healthy in my opinion this would be really good. Mabye on nights where you need more speed on the 4th line you switch brown for mclaren.

That's what I would do, except for the D.

Franson's earned his keep over Kostka, and Kostka, Franson and Fraser can rotate in and out when need be. (Also, with injuries)

There is no reason not to go with Lupul - Bozak - Kessel again. Lupul played great and fits there, he doesn't just lose his spot because he got injured.

I think JVR is the type, he will do well with just about anyone he plays.

Without a doubt he should be put with Kadri - Frattin. He needs the talent of Kadri to feed him passes and he will provide size on that line in front of the net.

I wouldn't mind seeing Komarov with Grabo and Kulemin to be honest. He seams wasted on the 4th line. For me he should be getting 3rd line minutes. I'm not sure what that means for Mac because he is playing well too but…

4th line can be any combination of players really, more based on match ups. It should include Brown though.

It really is fantastic that I'm having a hard time determining how our top 3 lines are going to shape up when Lupul comes back. I'm unfamiliar with this concept of... dep..t..h? Is that how you spell it?

Granted, Bozak isn't a #1 Centre by any means, but having a 3some of centres in Bozak, Grabo, and Kadri is working out really well for us so far this year. I'm loving this season so far.

If our first line is on fire and has chemistry you don't just throw Lupul in there and mess things up. You go with what's hot and Lupul will be coming back after an extended period of time anyways. Which ever one of our top three lines needs a shakeup, you put him there.

It really is situational.

JVR - Bozak - kessel
lupul - kadri - frattin
kulemin - grabo - mac/komarov

That's a pretty decent top 9 I must say.

I will be working on a new thread when I get home from work, but it is blantently obvious when Lupul comes back, how our lines should be shaped, won't let the cat out of the bag, but it may be a surprise that RC should seriously consider.

Joffrey Lupul was at the Leafs event today wearing a cast on his right arm. He is working out and hoping to be back on ice in couple weeks.

I really like this line up. And I think Lupul-Kadri-Frattin line would be interesting

We are still a good month away, if not more, from him returning.

By then, who know's who'll be injured or who will be in the doghouse.

Assuming JvR-Bozak-Kessel stays healthy, I'd put him with Kadri and Frattin. Kadri's assist rate will skyrocket if thats the case.

On a side note, the only benefit to his injury is its like getting a top 6 player for free half way through the season when he returns.

It absolutely makes perfect sense, I'll bet it will be met with equal parts of scepticism and brilliance.

But for those that observe, and dig deeper, it could be a brilliant move.
