Rangers at Bruins preview
Good morning from TD Garden, where the Bruins will conclude their season series against the Rangers tonight. Expect Tuukka Rask to make his ninth start in goal.

Andrew Ference seeking new deal with the Bruins
“I’ve put a lot of blood, sweat, and tears into this team,” Ference said. “The makeup and the fabric of this room – the environment.”

Ference’s time in Boston, however, may be ending. He is in the final season of a three-year, $6.75 million contract. Ference, Nathan Horton, and Anton Khudobin are scheduled to become unrestricted free agents after this season.

Ference will be 34 March 17. His next deal might be his last crack at a multi-year contract. So it is quite expected that Ference’s next contract is very much on his mind.

“My radar? Yeah. Of course. This is my career,” Ference said when asked if he’s been thinking about a deal. “It has been going all the way back to the moment that we had the ability to extend. As a player, you want to have some grasp of your future.”

Bruins-Rangers in rubber match on Causeway Street .
"I think we've been playing a lot better. It was tough out of the gates but it seems like with each game we're better and that's what we're trying to do," said Nash after the Rangers morning skate. "There are so many skilled guys in this dressing room that it seems like anyone can play with anyone here, so it's been good. We've been gaining a lot of chemistry and it's been a lot of fun playing with these guys."

The B's -- it appears anyway -- will be going back to the lines with which they started the season. In the morning line rushes, Tyler Seguin was back with Patrice Bergeron and Brad Marchand while Nathan Horton went back with Milan Lucic and David Krejci.

Brad Marchand’s business booms for Bruins .
Marchand was at his skillful and irritating best. He sniped a pretty goal past the previously impenetrable Ryan Miller (followed by putting an index finger to his mouth as a signal to quiet the Buffalo crowd), controlled the puck in the offensive zone for long stretches, and drew a penalty from fellow pest Steve Ott.

It was pretty much the full Marchand.

“Brad’s being Brad,” coach Claude Julien said yesterday following a practice at the Garden. “The chirping is still there, but he’s done a good job of keeping himself in check. It’s not just the goal, but the plays he made and how he was stickhandling the puck. Earlier in the season, he was fanning on a lot of shots and now it seems like his hands seem to be coming back. He’s made some great plays with some good stickhandling and he’s getting opportunities. I think his game is really coming along.

McQuaid closes in on full recovery .
“I’d be lying if I didn’t say I feel it’s quite a difference,” McQuaid said yesterday. “It’s been about a month, so I guess we’ve been at it for a while, and it feels good to get back into the rhythm. I said at the beginning of the year that you want things to become more like second nature, and that’s starting to come.

“I’m finding my positioning on the ice and stuff like that.”

Anton Khudobin ready when needed
“It’s pretty much the first time in, like, five years that I’m sitting on the bench that long,” said Khudobin, whose only previous appearance before Sunday was a 29-save, 5-3 win on Jan. 28 at Carolina. “But I understand my role on the team.”

Khudobin, a 26-year-old native of Kazakhstan, has in fact embraced his role as backup to Tuukka Rask.

“What’s impressive, and what’s really helped him be as good as he is right now, is how hard he works in practices – how long he stays, how much extra work he does,” said Bruins coach Claude Julien. “He seems to understand what he needs to do in order to stay sharp.”

always appreciate the compilations, GWs.

from the Ference story:

I'm a Ference fan, though he hasn't put together a great game yet this season. I'd like to see him stay, but its hard to see where he fits if that position can be improved. I wouldn't be upset if he was the #6 going forward.

Don't know why this post was necessary. Ference is a leader and he is one of the few players on the team (Bergeron and Thornton come to mind) who absolutely bleed black and gold.

With that said, it would take a pretty big hometown discount for Chia to keep him on the team I think (with having to sign 2 goalies and a top-6 forward).

I just want to thank you for posting these links from time to time. I actually have a couple of the main Boston Sports, Hockey news sites bookmarked. There are a few I always forget too.. I search all the time for any news concerning the Bruins, and try to get different opinions/reads reads etc..

I appreciate that I can come here and have all the good links in one place.
