Shanny ain't coming to MTL....but i hope that i'm wrong
5 millions is to much for a 37years even tough he scored 40goals...(we don't have Datsyuk and Zetterberg)
4.2 is the max i would gave him...
But sometime we need to ask ourself, how this can be too much ? If we have enough cap space we need to improve our team. Ok, maybe that too much, but we still improve our team no ? Money is just money and Gillet have enough of that
And we talk about 1 or 2 years contract, its not a Yashinian contract
I know 5 it's too much but if it's only for one years that would be good because the team have a lot of money left in their box so why not? and if it's for a long term contract, it's could be like that:
1st year--> 5M
2nd year--> 4M
I think shanahan could help a lot the team because he will help all off our young to progress
I already heard what he's gonna say :"It was normal for me to stay with the Wings. I won 3 cups here and I never what it to leave. I'm happy with the deal we made; it's the best for me and my family and blablabla and blablabla..."
If you ask me. This Shanahan situation is a complete waste of time and energy. It's almost a given he'll remain a Red Wings. Where, he'll appropriately be named their new captain. Sure I would love to see him wear a Canadiens jersey. However, I doubt we're the unidentified team. Time to move on and forget Shanahan. "Pat" is right. This will evolve into a Brett Hull scenario (summer 2001).
Coming to Montreal is not as far out in left field as some may think.
Shanny always said when he was younger that he'd like to be a journalist someday - I can see him getting into broadcasting, and perhaps with HNIC. What better exposure for the end of his career than playing on an up-and-coming Canadian team in one of North America's two most fervent hockey cities, and it's most famous and distinguished?
He remains in the Canadian spotlight, and makes a smooth transition into his next vocation as HNIC's top colour man or whatever. He broke into the NHL with Muller don't forget, and they remain good friends. I'm sure Muller has told him how great it is to play in Montreal
