JD likely wants his guy in the trench before the next offseason and draft. Surprised, but it makes sense.
Culture change is upon us.

I think he deserved it, but I'm not sure I like the timing of it.
Weird timing? Bad timing? Never a bad time to fire someone incompetent.

I have no problem with this. JD is now in full control and will be his rebuild.

I hate to see anyone lose their job, but he's had plenty of time.
Let's let JD hire his own GM. Then the coach, then we can start working on players.

I like. The next few days should be interesting I wonder what Howson did (or didn't do) to get fired.

Richards most likely stays until a new GM comes. That is unless Patrick is to be named GM.

CBJ prez John Davidson: "This was a difficult decision but one that I thought was in the best interest of moving our hockey club forward."

I have a feeling this has Ryan Johansen's treatment written all over it.

This is a relief. This is for the good of this team. The team needed a clean start. They now have a competent team president with hockey experience and a chance for John Davidson to start from scratch with his own GM and likely his own coach when all is said and done. There are some great candidates out there and there may be more before the season is over--George McPhee's seat is getting warm. The Jackets are now the first team in line for those candidates. And Scott Howson will not be a cloud hanging over the team's most important draft in its history.
As for Howson, my guess is the guy doesn't like me and I don't blame him. From my end, I have no personal animus towards Scott Howson. I hope that he learns from the things that went right and the things that went wrong when he was GM here. Maybe he'll get another chance someday and like Bill Belichick he'll find the second go 'round goes better. Best of luck to him, but our team needed a change and I'm glad that John Davidson decided to do this now instead of wait longer.

Who do you guys hope for? Just from the top of my head, I think of;
Brian Burke
Craig Patrick
Pierre McGuire (Every team looks at him for some reason, not that he would be good lmao)
Rick Dudley
John Davidson himself could take over I guess.

Spoke with Jackets prez John Davidson. He's NOT taking over as GM. Has a short list of candidates.
