Sometimes, or it can be decided by the coach. I'm not sure how the Habs named Koivu and it was so long ago I'm not sure it's relevant.

I think Rivet would be the guy. The other As -- Kovalev and Souray -- would also be possibilities.

Looking at how the players behave on ice: Begin or Bouillon.

I'd think it would end up being Kovalev, with either Rivet or possibly Markov getting the other 'A'.

It was players vote. And there no doubt that the new captain would be Rivet or Souray. But Koivu wont retire!!

IMO, Ashley Simpson is a terrible performer, but she still gives it a go!

The habs don't really have one guy who stands out like Koivu does at the moment, but I think Souray comes closest. Rivet is a close second.

Maybe it's better if I put it this way: I think Rivet deserves it, but I think Souray would be the guy who actually ends up getting it.

Future is confusing, with Chipchura, Higgins and Komisarek all looking like potential candidates. Personally I think Chipchura has the best shot, but it's really a crapshoot.
Rivet, hands down. Souray has the big shot but whose been on TSN sports more often than him, pretending to be a pylon.
Rivet's not flashy and doesn't speak French but he's as solid as we have on and off the ice....and gets respect from all the guys. Would he want the job is better question.

I think the general consensus here is Craig Rivet and deservedly so. There's just no one else on the team that can fill that role right now other than him.

Better question: Who would center the first line if Koivu retires? The UFAs who mihjt have filled in are all gone, and we know that Ribeiro and Bonk can't hack it.

I'd give it to Rivet because he's more senior, he's obviously a vocal leader and nobody is more well spoken for in the media than Craig.

This guy has a job at TSN waiting for him once he hangs them up. He's really good.
