When looking at our roster, this is pretty much the play you would expect out of them. But then I have no idea how we were able to produce goals last year with this exact same group of forwards.

It seems like we're playing more conservatively this year. Not sure if that is causing our poor offense or our poor offense forces us to play more conservatively.

Gaustad is there for the faceoff and the faceoff alone. If we had a consistent 55-60% guy who was *good* offensively, he wouldn't be out there. I just don't think Legwand/Fisher are good enough on the draw for the PP. You lose the draw, you lose a good 20 seconds.

Plus, Gaustad is a big body in front of the net. He can't replace Horny, but we really only have a few options there. Wilson can, but he's more of a playmaker. Smith can, but Smith is snakebit. Fisher can, but Preds fans will just complain. Ditto with Yip.

his lack of offensive skills make it a wash. let him win the faceoff then he needs to make it to the bench for a change lol

It has proved to be a legitimate strategy before. But you pretty much have to ask Rinne to play out of his mind.

Hahah he's been a buzzkill on offense and he hasn't been winning clutch draws like he should. He gets paid ****ing too much for what he does and he's not even doing It well

If we lose possession, that's generally what happens. But he's not going to skate to the bench straight off the draw.

War room in Toronto must have called to give us three shots. Only two on scoreboard at start of intermission.

Sorry but winning face offs isn't worth 3.8 w/e mil. He gets dumb penalties and can't do **** to help other than winning face offs.

He's got as many goals as Mike Fisher....so he's got that going for him.

And Gaustad has the second highest FO% in the league of anyone with 150+ draws. I'd say he's definitely "doing his job."

Why? I'm more troubled by the play of the Preds over the past couple of games than I am by how we compare to the last team to play our opponent. Besides, one game in which Columbus blew out the Sharks means nothing. The year we drummed Detroit 8-0 the Wings went to Game 7 of the SCF. Our game was completely meaningless.

We just had more offensive chances in the last 15 seconds than we did in the first period.

Yeah...but Gaustad has the same number of goals/points, a higher FO%, a better +/-, and a better shooting % than Fisher...and he costs less.

Just sayin.
