Cheap doesn't win you games! Secondly I think his name is Fraser for the Leafs cost them about the same but plays triple Diaz's minutes thats a bargain and something Montreal lacks at the right time
Diaz has averaged like 22-23 minutes the last 5 or 6 games. Guy is turning into a workhorse.
If my post gave you the impression that I hate Diaz, it can only mean that I phrased it wrong! However I do think that Subban brings a better overall (especially in the toughness department) contribution so, yes, I sure dislike it when I see Diaz receiving the same amount (or more!) of ice time than PK.
Agreed. I just hope that people will not start to hate Diaz because MT uses him too much.
Diaz has the tools to be a solid top 4 defenseman but he will have to play with a big defensive defenseman.
I hope you're joking. Tampa didn't crash the net on either of those goals, they got two lucky deflections. More penalties would only have compounded the problem.
But if they would been meaner earlier in the game, these players would not have crashed the net and not get those deflections in front of the net. They had no fear.

On the second goal, Hedman was cruising 10 feet away from the net when he got that deflection and the third goal was a deflection from the point that deflected 3 times before finding its way into the net. No amount of meanness or intimidation would have prevented those goals.
It's clear that the Habs are still hurting from losing Hamrlik or a Hamrlik-type player (talking about the good Hamrlik here). The lack of an minute-eating shutdown D-man shows. It gives certain d-man more icetime that they can handle and puts them into situations they shouldn't be in.
Thank you to Price (and DD for his acute contribution)
Screw you pathetic D at the end of the game when Tbay decided to actually play
Special screw you to the NHL for not calling the tying goal illegal. Could it be MORE obvious than that? Forget the pathetic fact that he was able to do it, that was not a goal. Also, if they are going to call goalie interference, they can't just forget about it just because it's a tying goal. F'in NHL!
Eller keeps proving that he is not overrated. Moen and Armstrong respond to haters.
Bourque has been great, but would be nice if he had iced the game on that partial break. Finishing needs to happen.
Good first step for Cole. Pacioretty...pffft.
so....who else was losing their mind in OT looking at who Therrien put out there?

Very true, this needs to be fixed sooner rather than later.
Subban doesn't deserve it, for sure. Not even sure if that's what happened.
White, I love, but he needs a lesson. I'd gladly have him back in the lineup though
White...the lesson is waaaaaaay over.
Time to put this all-heart warrior back on our 4th line.
He can play some hockey (tough in the corners and actually can make some passes...has some hockey sense from what I've seen...let him ****ing play...must be torture for White to be in the doghouse like this...and for having too much of a heart...he's gone overboard but at least we know he cares and plays like a warrior for our Habs).
Subban:
gets 2 pts tonight...and then doesn't play anymore.
**** you Therrien.
Therrien is going to feel so ****ed in the *** when/if Markov gets injured. He's going to look at Subban for all the help and Subban should tell Therrien to go **** himself. You don't constantly punish the ones who go to war for you. Therrien can get the **** out of here.
IF Markov is injured...every coach wants Subban to play 30min/game. Markov should play less because we want to preserve his health (jinxed body, bad luck, doesn't know how to protect himself in the boards...doesn't get ready for a body checker coming his way, etc).
Can't wait to hire a competent french-Quebecois (Boucher? Mathieu Darche one day?!!) and not just clown after clown after clown just 'cause he has pure laine blood. So ****ing stupid. I don't care if a coach is from Europe or Asia (get a translator I don't care)...as long as he can be fair with the players and get the best out of them. This Therrien is all about punishing and punishing our all-heart players.
Price had no chance on those three goals. Emelin and Bouillon have been brutal. Emelin hits, thats it. He can't clear the puck out of the defensive zone. Would Tinordi be worth bringing up? Cole had a better game and I liked Patches with the kids. Man I love Prust! PK fu#ked up on the one goal but looked great before that. Why does this team sit back with a lead? Makes me crazy!
No idea why White gets blamed for two losses, but Moen gets nothing for his second dumb, pointless, momentum shifting fight.
huh? how are those in ANY way similar?
Also...we actually scored after that fight to make it 3-0. Moen was getting **** for NOT fighting. It was hardly a bad decision. Prust punching Conacher at that point in the game was far more dangerous.

Diaz lacks physical strength but he is acting smart about it: he reads the play well, he actively covers a lot of space, his positioning is sound... I like him.
However, Markov + Gorges + Diaz, all receiving top4 minutes, is not a viable solution imo. It is not a good mix of toughness and sheer physical strength. Short terms, a solution would be to reduce Diaz’s TOI by 2-4 minutes while increasing Subban’s ice time by the same amount.
