Buy out Richards in 2014, sign Malkin

I remember a game at the Garden in October last year. They had a 3-0 lead against the Sens, and blew it, I think all in the third period. But they lost that game. That started a 7 game winning streak. That team learned from their mistakes. Hopefully this team does the same.

Kreider and miller need to be on different lines, IMO. I wouldn't mind seeing:

Kreider-Richards-Gaborik
Hagelin-Stepan-Nash
Pyatt-Miller-Callahan

that goal completely changed the complexion of the game. free goal. its ridiculous to not think that a goal with a minute to go, that was BS, can't turn a game around. Boston rode the momentum to a free point. That goal doesn't go in, I dont think the Brooins get a free point.

Yeah Lucic 100% batted it down.

Glad we pulled that out in the end. At least we showed we're getting on the right track, even though that third period was really ugly.

3 Stars:
Hags
Nash
McD

bonus star goes to Cally for the finisher.

I suppose it would be one thing to keep him off if the PP suddenly started clicking, but there has been no change. Keeping your best PMD off of a dysfunctional power play for an extended period is just stupid--especially considering how well Del Zotto started this season.
I would stick in Del Z and remove Richards next game.

Nonetheless, the Rangers failed to get the puck out of the zone for the next 48 seconds, basically. Sorry, but bad calls are never an excuse for the outcome of the game. You still have a job to do and, in that instance, the Rangers failed to do it.

Bittersweet victory for sure, it hurts that Boston got an extra point (TWICE they got a gift point against us!). Also it sucks that this win won't count in the tiebreakers (though the chances of that mattering isn't very high). I mean I love the fact that shootouts don't count in the tiebreaker, but sucks that we lost the ROW. However I thought we played well for the most part. The ice tilted our way at the start of the 1st and at times in the 2nd, but they didn't get many good chances. Ironically I thought our 3rd period was our best. After we gave up the goal we completely shut them out, until that 2nd goal and the 3rd goal was fluky. Too bad how it ended we looked suffocating most of that 3rd period. It's not like we played like complete garbage in the 3rd. Anyway, I'll take a win against a GREAT team. IMO these were the 2 most talented teams in the east. If you include goaltending, maybe the league.

3 stars:

Nash- IMO he's our best skater (definitely forward) since Jagr. He's a complete game changer. What a game. I'm so bummed that he hit the post. The guy deserves more goals than he's gotten.

Hank- I'm shocked to read people bashing him. I thought that despite the 40 shots on goal we didn't allow that many great ones. Still 37 saves is pretty damn good to me. He had ZERO chance on the first and third goals. I thought that the second one wasn't a great rebound (actually I gave him a break but he was the one that said it was a bad rebound), however that's not even a terrible rebound. If that's a bad goal for him now we're in good shape.

Hags- Nice empty netter, but the guy is all over the place. That line was great.

What I'd like to see on the PP (especially 5 on 3) is DZ on the ice, Gabby and Nash shooting and Richards and Stepan passing the puck. Not the other way around!
I would even have Callahan (in front of the net) instead of a lazy/tired Gabby/Richards.

Oh please, tell that to the Buffalo Sabres as the Dallas Stars are raising the Stanley Cup.

Man, if anything was benny hill worthy, that 20 seconds was. Anyone feeling ambitious enough to make a youtube clip of it with benny hill in the background? Could be the second gem in a row for the main boards after that gif of that god awful line change the other night. Everyone makes mistakes, but geez when this team ****s up, they go for the gold.

Just before their 2nd goal... Nash tries to play by himself instead of making the easy back pass to the D.

We get scored on a few secs later... Otherwise he was awesome.

If that goal doesn't happen we win 3-1

That's a particularly bad example, but how much of that SCF game was played before that moment occured?

For the most part, the team is looking very sharp, absent stopping playing the last 8 minutes or so (and the Nash penalty that changed the tone of the game was a very weak call). Should be a wake-up call that games last 60 minutes, especially against good team. If they keep up their energy level, they'll climb in the standings.

Hank was very good again, he seems to be rounding into form. Only thing really concerning continues to be the power play. espite Boston winning the Cup in 2011 without a power play, that's an aberration. We won't win it unless the power play and penalty kill get better, at least the latter is showing signs of life.

2 points is 2 points...and that's 3 in a row. Obviously there's much work to be done (the power play continues to be an unsolvable riddle) but it's nice to be putting wins together. Let's make it 4 in a Row on Valentines.

Not acceptable. It's nice to have the two points but I'm livid and this **** won't fly in the playoffs.
We blew a 3 goal lead in the 3rd period last year to a worse team in Ottawa. Cup contenders don't have bad losses or um bad WINS? Not the same thing but Chicago got dominated by Calgary in a game this season and won. Are they not cup contenders because they looked bad against actually a mediocre team? I bet I'll find a bad loss or bad win for the 70s Canadians, stop with the melodrama dude.

Edit: The same Bruins lost 7-4 to the Sabres at home this season. That's worse than a bad win. Give me a break.

By Uncle Glen? Absolutely not.

By the people on HF? Absolutely.

And our of the two the HF group is the only one even talking about this buyout.

I'm getting tired of Torts' mishanding of Gilroy out there.

He hasn't made a single mistake out there. He hasn't been on for a goal against. He is playing how your prototypical #6 guy should play. Quietly effective, not making any noise. Only played 4 mins.
