Prospect Camp?????

Does anyone have any information on the Kings prospect camp this year, and is there going to be a rookie tournament like years past?

Most of our guys are going to take some time off. Myself and Al will be in L.A., where we have a development camp. We're going to come into the camp to catch up with the transition of Dean Lombardi and, with Ron Hextall coming on, we have some work to do. We have staff to hire that needs to be addressed. With the assistance of the coaching staff, the kids will be on the ice on July 9th through the 14th.
I don't see any reason for the rookie tournament to stop. Should be in Phoenix this year.

I'll confirm that at the end of the week. It should, but things can change. The Yotes skipped their turn last year.

Phoenix already released their roster right? I wonder when the Kings will?

I'm confused. Which camp is the one in a few weeks? Is it the rookie camp that Kopitar impressed at last year or the one Sidney Crosby was at a few years ago?

I know its called the Prospects Camp. But which camp is it? Are only Kings property at the one in a couple weeks? Last year was the first year I've noticed that rookie/prospects camp or whatever. What I am wondering is whether that was held in September due to the lockout and this is the same thing or whether this is just like a draft camp like the one Crosby was at a few years back?

This is the LA prospects camp and orientation. Recent draft picks, Kings prospects and local players (Crosby two years ago was an exception) are invited to El Segundo to meet the Kings' staff, learn a bit about how the organization works, and be introduced to the team's "system." There will be some practices and some scrimmages, but nothing major. Guys like O'Sullivan and Kopitar may show up, but I wouldn't be surprised if they missed it. Who knows, with the new management, you may see more than the usual number of players out here to get "reacquainted."

In September, just before training camp, there will be the Prospects Tournament. Each team involved (LA, PHX, SJ and ANA) will have a roster of players who will play in the tournament. The prospects will be in El Segundo for a week or so preparing for the tournament. I would expect most, if not all, of our top prospects to play in the tournament.

Fin is correct regarding all the details...with the minor exception that they are calling this week's camp 'development camp' instead of prospects camp.

If memory serves me correctly, they do have a scrimmage on Friday night as in past years....Black Vs White and only a certain number of tickets available for that game.

It's looking like the Kings will host the Rookie Tournament this summer. Appearently there was a scheduling conflict in Phoenix. So it "should" look like this moving forward...

2006 - LA
2007 - PHO
2008 - ANA
2009 - SJ
