How does anyone know what he's asking for, if no teams have contacted him? Even if a team assumes he's asking for a lot, why not check in with him just to be sure. He might even be willing to return to his backup role.

No teams have contacted him or no teams have given him an offer.........theres a big difference.........if no teams have contacted him thats brutal............if teams have spoke to him and he wants 4 mil and they arent going to spend near that on him that is the reason for no offers~

Legace came out and said that he has no desire to be a backup goalie anymore.

There simply isnt a team out there that needs him at the price he is probably asking. He is probably kicking himself for not taking Ken Hollands $2.5 million offer before the playoffs.

And lets be truthful here. While the Wings did get outplayed by the Oilers....Legace was a big reason why they lost. He came up with zero big saves. Not a single one.

The real wierd thing, the Vezina is voted on by the GMs, and he was therefore voted the 5th best goaltender of last season by the very group of people refusing to offer him a contract.

Colour me confused.

People are staying away from him because they know he's not a big time goaltender. Could he help a team during the regular season? Sure, but come playoff time, he's only average (if even that). So maybe he'd fit on a team that doesn't see itself as a major playoff threat, but that's about it. It sounds like he's asking for too much money, and teams don't want to pay that much for a goalie who can't cut it when it counts.

Like i was saying in the Legace-Osgood back then, Those two were one of the worst duo in the NHL and Legace one of the worst starter. I guess the GM's are agreeing with me...

Same with the Bolts and giving up so much to acquire Marc Denis when they could have just signed Legace.

I find it pretty perplexing, what are your thoughts?
Jay Feaster said there wasn't a free agent goalie out there that wasn't a big improvement over what the team already had. Plus, they would still have to move salary to sign a Legace anyway. The Lightning were reportedly interested in Denis at the trading deadline and have scouted him for months, so he was their guy.
