No we need our prospects at least the ones you have listed above. Our top producing prospects and players with as much raw skill and dazzling puck skills like Jurco need to be honed because they are the future face of the Detroit Red Wings.

I understand that if a move needs to be made and it outweighs the be fits of a prospect it may need to be made.

For what it would cost I hope we stay very far away from Yandle. At least Green is a buy low option. The Coyotes are quite clear on what Yandle will be if he hits the market. Another thing Yandle can only play on the left and is actually worse defensively than Mike Green who is a righty.
Definitely would prefer Green.

Think people have already forgotten how badly Yandle was abused by us in that 2011 series.

We can dream. Although Washington appears to be in shambles, their future should be bright pending they don't hit the self-destruct button. I don't think its in their plans to blow it up though, as much as they should make some minor tweaking moves.

Carlson's usually Washington's best defender. I would take him over Green and Alzner, both of whom are pretty solid in their own ways. He's signed to just under 4 mil til 2017-18-- ha, would love it, but just saying it would cost a lot.

Don't give up on Backman yet either, ha, he's developing greatly but I understand the need for another top tier defenseman in the now.

We forgot about the best fit for Detroit guys. Ryan O'Reilly has played his last game in Colorado apparently says all the insiders and he will be traded.

Hes a Detroit style center that at the age of 20 put up 55 points and is a selke calibre defender. He could be a 2nd line center the wings need and then play Datsyuk and Zetterberg together. Hes the type of guy the wings could clear out some awesome prospects for and I wouldnt be upset at all.

A big Canadian center that plays amazing defense and can produce 60 points. Hes young which is they big part. Outside of Smith because the wings need D I would say bye to any prospect for him without question plus more

I'm sure theres a market for him but Colorado also has no leverage. O'Reilly is simply sitting out and not playing and he has no contract. I'm not so sure it would take more than that package and with Tyson Barrie, Stefan Elliot, Siemens and others I'm not so sure Coloardo would demand Smith

His price would be high though

ROR isn't anything amazing. Sure, he's a very good young player, but his upside is only so-so. That is a ridiculous overpayment.

Wonder what the asking price is for Lilja these days.

I'll take Mike Green for 1,000, says Wishful Thinking Man.

They want a top prospect and roster guy so maybe one of Tatar/Nyquist/Sproul plus someone. Maybe Kindl because hes playing better now

I don't know if Florida would move him, but since we're just spitballing in this thread, I'd love it if we could make a move for Gudbranson.

Nobody ever *leaves* the Red Wings. Someone just keeps their seat warm for awhile til Kenny brings'em back.

Just wait in 7 years when we sign Huds for 2 years at $2 million with a NTC.

I don't think adding him to our blueline does anything but add an extra body for "depth." I don't think it changes our status as likely first-round fodder. Giving up Kindl and a 2nd, in what people say is supposed to be a deep draft seems like harsh overpayment, imo.
Completely agree. Nothing available would make us close enough to a favorite/contender for it to be worth it. Adding a guy like Hamer may help a bit, but I would rather keep Kindl and a 2nd and lose in 5 games round one than get Hamerlik and lose in game 7.

TLDR: No rentals please

The Wings shouldn't take Green unless he comes cheap, which he won't. Green is over-rated.

Yeah, Mike Green's huge season was some sort of statistical anomaly. A result of the system that Boudreau had running successfully for most of that season. Many Capitals consistently scored at a pretty high pace, I wouldn't count on it to happen again and certainly not under our current system.

He won't be moved for anything we'd be offering and I'd rather hold onto what we have tenfold then sacrifice one of our prospects for Green.

It's still really early to even predict who's going to be buyers and sellers. Although it gets clearing with each day, the difference in 1st to 8th and 8th to 15th is a mere 5 points in each conference... not including the Blackhawks, who are simply charging at full speed.

Volchenkov would be a nice pick up, probably could get him for a 3-4 liner or prospects.
